@Lyn, it is more than likely that IS what happened to the rags. Being used as cleaning rags and/or dusters would have been far easier than what I was led to believe and it makes much more sense
@Biglad, well done on supporting the various fruits. I watched a bit of the women's T20 but lacking a CA I stayed awake!
@Busy-Lizzie, you have had another nice day today. Your departure to France is getting ever closer now. I am not convinced this cold water swimming is entirely good for people. I positively shivered when I read that you had seen a lady in the sea. I might be getting in the Med. next month though.
I wonder if Ruby and her OH have been riding up and downstairs on their new stairlift?
Signing out for tonight all. Enjoy your evenings and I'll see you all tomorrow.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Still raining here @Ladybird4 hope the sun comes back tomorrow. Watched the next episode of Ridley tonight, so now up to date. Really enjoying the series.Β We get bags through the door every now and again for charities.Β I don't fill those and put them out as I'm not sure they get used properly and quite often they just get left uncollected.Β Usually use the bags for bin liners. I'd rather take things to a proper organised shop.Β @wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1 I was going to ask what you bought too Rosie. Is it something to keep you warm. @Busy-Lizzie glad you managed to get out to the coast. Sounds like a lovely day out. @Ladybird4 what is going to happen to the lady's boiler? Hope it can be repaired without the hassle if someone boarding the loft first. I agree about safety as you say, but that seems a bit OTT with nailing down boards.Β
I'm awake since 4am, can't sleep anymore. It was busy week so far and yesterday I worked at cottage, too much I'm afraid. We had three sunny and quite warm days, but haevy rain is coming. It will be like that till Sunday. I'm going to make cup of tea. Hope you are all well, because I didn't read back.
Good morning @Ante1 andΒ all to follow. Not feeling 100% I think I have a cold starting I seem to lack energy and very snuffly. Starting to look forward to our holiday now. We really need a break, I have booked to go to the Jorvik Viking experience and there is a food festival in York while we are there so lots to enjoy.Β
@Ladybird4 if we can get a day by the sea I would be tempted to go in.Β
My youngest son was swimming in Scottish lochs last week but he did have a wetsuit. Maybe I should invest in one.Β
Ante, you must take care and don't try to do too much too quickly. You don't want to have a bad back or other aches that will stop you from doing the necessary maintenance on your small holding.
Debs, you will enjoy your holiday I know but be prepared for the smells at the Yorvik experience.
SGL, I am enjoying Ridley too - especially as it has Adrian Dunbar in it. Bestie's son has screwed down some boards in his Granny's loft now and I am hoping that the problem was being sorted yesterday. I should hear today.
The Queen's favourite flower:
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I had to look up 'glovewort'. Apparently it is an archaic name for lily of the valley. I stumbled across that poem and thought it would be nice to share it with you all.

Debs, hope you will enjoy in your holiday. Jorvik viking experience sound interesting, unlike swimming. I told before that I live 100 m from beach and didn't go there more than 12 years.
LB, beautiful poem and flover. I didn't know that lily of the valley was Queen's favorite. Thank you for that information. I'll try next time not to do too much. Yesterday I wasn't careful.

Floral Tribute by Simon Armitage
Evening will come, however determined the late afternoon,
Limes and oaks in their last green flush, pearled in September mist.
I have conjured a lily to light these hours, a token of thanks,
Zones and auras of soft glare framing the brilliant globes.
A promise made and kept for life - that was your gift -
Because of which, here is a gift in return, glovewort to some,
Each shining bonnet guarded by stern lance-like leaves.
The country loaded its whole self into your slender hands,
Hands that can rest, now, relieved of a century's weight.
Evening has come. Rain on the black lochs and dark Munros.
Lily of the Valley, a namesake almost, a favourite flower
Interlaced with your famous bouquets, the restrained
Zeal and forceful grace of its lanterns, each inflorescence
A silent bell disguising a singular voice. A blurred new day
Breaks uncrowned on remote peaks and public parks, and
Everything turns on these luminous petals and deep roots,
This lily that thrives between spire and tree, whose brightness
Holds and glows beyond the life and border of its bloom.
