Morning everyone, raining here again. @Ante1 sorry you had a bads night sleep. Hope you can have an easier day today. @debs64 sorry you don't feel too good either. Hope you feel better soon. You'll enjoy the Jorvik centre. We went with the boys when they were younger. @Ladybird4 love Lily of the valley too. Beautiful photo and poem. Thank you for sharing. OH didn't feel too good again late yesterday afternoon after feeling so much better on Monday. Yesterday was the last day of antibiotics. He's still sleeping at the moment, hopefully after a good nights sleep he will feel a bit better today. Thank you for asking. Glad your friends loft has been sorted, hopefully now the chap will get up there and sort the gas problem for her.
Hello ... just me popping in ... can't keep up with all your chat ... but I thought I'd mention (in case you'd not noticed) that Simon Armitage has written the poem in the form of a Double Acrostic ... the first letter of each line spells out ELIZABETH.
I've had the horrid tummy bug that seems to be going around ... hope anyone here who's suffering from it is feeling better soon, and that everyone else is okay-ish, or 'as well as can be given the circumstances' ... I know rude health isn't possible for everyone.
Enjoy your adventures Topbird!

LB and Lily curiosity is fine with me, I won some new with tags pale beige cotton trousers which apparently are now with the courier. Biglad I watched some cricket too. We’ve all popped ourselves on the stairlift it rather gave me the giggles but very good. LB Lovely poem and Lily of the Valley smell lovely. Ante I used to live by the beach, lovely strolls along there, listening to nature. Rubee is not feeling at all good with tummy troubles too so could be the same bug. Have a good day everyone.
I hope @Dovefromabove is feeling better now and that @Rubee recovers quickly from the tummy bug.
The tree man is here pruning an overgrown laurel. He's also pruned next door's overgrown leylandii that was overhanging our garden. It's a lot lighter now. We had our neighbour's permission.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Afties all. Have been busy in the garden lately, popping to various garden centres for new plants we want for the borders. Managed to pick up ( the one and and only) Rowan tree , found in a family run garden place at a really low price. We have been watching some of the Tv coverage about The Queen, very moving and very poignant. Also read that poem the other day, I am sure we will all have picked up the fact that the first letter of each word on the lines,( only) spelt out the Queens name. This type of writing poems is very often taught in schools. Nothing new.( acrostic). Rubee, hope your OH finds life much easier now that you have the stair lift. SGL, hope OH is beginning to feel the benefit of the antibiotics now. Is his chest easing now?
Dove, I am sorry to hear that you have been suffering a stomach upset. Plenty of hydration called for until the symptoms subside.
I've lost track of the days going to Bestie's on Monday. Oh and get this - out of the blue I get a call from my surgery regarding my blood test readings that I dropped off a few weeks back. Apparently my pressure is a bit high so they want me to wear a BP monitor for 24 hours. I can just imagine - though I have no idea really - the number of times my poor arm will get squeezed in all that time. I even have to wear it in bed! Sounds like an interesting 24 hours. I had to reject her first two attempts at getting me to go to the surgery to get fitted up as I was too busy with other things. To cut a long story short I am going to the surgery on 28th of this month. I need all that nonsense out of the way before my holiday.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
@wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1 sounds like a great purchase for £10 Rosie. They sound lovely. You made me laugh when you said you've had a go on the stairlft. Do hope it's of great help for your dad. @Songbird-2 OH is feeling a bit better than he did thank you. But he spoke to the Dr on the phone and she's given him another course of antibiotics as she was concerned he hadn't improved enough. I too noticed the poem spelt out Elizabeth, Hazel. 😊 We've watched the TV coverage today too, King Charles looked absolutely distraught. And I did feel for Prince William and Prince Harry walking behind the coffin, must have brought back such heart breaking memories of walking behind Diana's coffin.
Sorry to hear you have to wear a BP monitor @Ladybird4 hope everything works out well and no serious problems.
Thank you @Ladybird4 … that’s kind of you … I’m much improved thankyou, but still not quite ‘normal’.
I’ve had several 24 hour sessions with the BP monitor … I find them not too bad … but do try not to stand close to a cooker hood when it sort of explodes and blows all the fuses whilst the monitor is taking a reading !!! The doctor was relieved to hear that the cause of the huge spike in the readings was ‘external’. 😂
@Songbird-2 I hope I didn’t appear to be patronising when I mentioned the acrostic poem … I just thought it was worth mentioning, that’s all 😊 … and as you say, it’s certainly not new … it’s been used in poetry and prose in Britain and Germany since the Middle Ages … I just thought I’d mention it as no one else had … it’s less apparent when the poem is beautifully set out with the lines ‘centred’ as Ladybird had posted. 😊
I’ve had my Covid Autumn Booster today. Booked online on the NHS website the other day … very simple … you don’t have to be ‘invited’ … all the info is on the NHS site.
Take care folks. 😊

He is such a nice, ordinary man.
