Rosie, those trousers sound really nice - and a bargain price too.
@star gaze lily I heard from Bestie today about her Mum's boiler. Apparently it was a different engineer who came and he is local to her Mum so told her if she had any difficulties he would come and sort things for her. He was nice, kind and reassuring. Such a difference!
Hazel, what good news about the rowan tree. You must be kind to it as they are witches trees. There to protect your household from said entities.
Busy, it must be so nice to have that extra light come into your garden. My neighbours have a humungous one in their front garden - which overhangs mine but I, too, have permission to cut back when needed. Have been waiting for the wood pigeons babies to fledge.
Is it just me or has it gone noticeably cooler these last couple of nights? I was cold this morning when I got up.
Dove I have made a note in my diary 'Keep away from cooker hood!' Thanks for the heads up.

Evening all. Now up in Kassel and definitely on the homeward road. It's been raining since last night so my visitย to the Museum of Death (grisly but interesting but also a 20 min complicated cycle ride away) has been postponed.ย

Instead we took the longer route travelling through a lot of what was East Germany. Strange that an area so close to the border can still feel so very different. Much quieter, more austere and less prosperous than neighbours 10 miles away. Stopped for lunch at a former border crossing point complete with fences, barbed wire and watch tower. I find the whole thing quite spooky.

Keep hearing about the rain at home but whenever I look at the forecast / actual weather for my locality - nothing! I tell you - the rain clouds definitely swerve around my village....

@Dovefromabove ,although not intended, an explanation given for something that people are aware ofย and unasked for, can, sometimes, across as condescending to me. That's just me though. Don't worry about it.
OH and I went to a garden centre today to look for a new Heuchhera , ย  Apple Crisp, as the one the fence chaps trod on, repeatedly, was completely flattened and looking in a bad way. We managed to get another one so have potted on the old one, and planted out the new one. We also bought a Penstemon ( our first one), Summertime Pink, and I think we are just about done now for filling the borders and getting plants in their appropriate places now.ย

@star gaze lily, I'm sorry to hear your OH is not feeling too grand and more medication is needed. I hope he starts to feel a little better soon, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and him and that the antibiotics start doing some good for him.
Rosie, your new trousers sound really nice, hope you're pleased with them when they arrive. Hope Alfie is okay these days.
Im signing out for now. Have a nice evening everyone.

Soz, T'Bird and Hazel, your last posts weren't there when I posted mine.
T'Bird, the Museum of Death - sounds like a Hammer horror film. I shall google that one before Shetland.
Hazel, I think Apple Crisp is a lovely name for a Heuchera. With a bit of luck and tlc your poor squashed heuchera might recover next year. I'm going to google Apple Crisp as well!

  • @Ladybird4 that's good to hear that the engineer was a different chap and was more helpful and considerate. She'll need to keep his name and number ๐Ÿ˜‰Beautifulย  flower pic LB.
@Songbird-2 thank you, I hope these antibiotics do the trick.ย  Apple crisp Heuchera sounds lovely, think I might Google that one too.ย  I love Penstemons, I've got a couple in the front garden and one in the back. The one by our front door has gone bonkers this year, it's rather large. Will have to trim it backย  when the time is right.ย  Summertime Pink sounds beautiful.ย
Haven't watched Shetland this time, I got totally confused last series, had to keep putting the sub titles on too, he kept mumbling......apart from his broad accent. ๐Ÿ™„

  • Just googled Apple Crisp @Songbird-2 think that will have to go on my list ๐Ÿ˜‰

For a while we have been looking for some wine glasses that aren't too big or expensive. We had a set of 6 quite pretty cut glass, not crystal, ones but OH had broken two. When we were in Southwold yesterday I wanted to look in a charity shop. OH said he'd wait outside as he was sitting on his buggy. I saw some wine glasses and there were four that looked very similar to our four. I bought them for a fiver and when we got home we found that they were identical to ours!
