    I think this thread needs to be closed now as it's turning into a bun fight.
    We do have a "Politic Thread".

    So we can have a bun fight in the politics thread then, but not here!

    If anyone dose not like what people say in a thread, move on or contribute and put your point of view that's what a discussion forum is for.

    It would be nice if people kept it civil ,but we can all tut and come to our own conclusions about individuals and their posts that shouldn't preclude anyone from posting or calls to close a thread because its does not suit an individual narrative. This is the potting shed open to all discussions other than gardening I believe.

    Close the thread or don't who cares its just a simple discussion thread. Some people just take this to seriously , just move on and enjoy something else.

    I could never be friends with a Tory. They are so evil that i would class them in the same bracket as paedophiles for the harm they cause.

    @Balgay.Hill

    That's a bit strong. I'm no fan of the Tory ideology but I have friends who are Tory's and their certainly not evil just people with a different perspective on life. I try to persuade them of the errors of their ways but evil... no, at least not the ones I know.

    I'm a white middle-aged gardener with a decent high-skilled career (not yet retired but maybe not too far off). I've never voted Tory in my life and I'm confident I never will. I have friends who do. There are things we agree to disagree about.

    I find the knee jerk close the thread reaction more worrying than a healthy debate. Block anyone who offends you or stop reading the thread .

    Exactly - same as when you see Mail or Telegraph.  It's a signal for biased thinking - or not thinking as the case may be.

    Quite appalling that a post by someone called Balgay Hill has gone relatively unchallenged, a post that about any other group would be regarded as a hate crime.

    Silence is complicit.

    If this represents the Guardian 'view', then that member, and others who feel the same, can stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

    It should be called out for what it is.   Hate speech and nothing less. These kinds of vitriolic attacks have a strange habit of emanating from those who appear ''of the hard left'' politically..

    ..and yes, I have flagged and reported it twice.  Seems like I'm the only one that's done that..
