Try some late French beans maybe … we might get an Indian  Summer ?
I’ve cut OH’s hair and he’s cut mine and we’ve both had another shower to wash the bits out, and I’ve made a potato salad for this evening.
Now to tackle the beans …

Is it just me or do others feel that the air is very oppressive today?  The sky is overcast and the temp is 29C and I feel as if the sky has a heavy weight on it.

Thanks Dove - I'll poke some more beans in and see what happens.  And yes - very close with the cloud cover.

Hello folks, nothing much to report from here so far. OH slowly recovering, I might try getting him to walk round the outside of the house on the flat bit today. I didn't sleep well and legs ache so just ironing 3 things at a time, got a mountain of stuff to do.

It's oppressive here Dove, very overcast but cooler which is a blessing. That's a good veggie haul you've got, the only one we have is 2nd early potatoes. I thought they might be all dried out but they look okay so we'll eat some tonight with baked salmon.

I've got all my buckets, trugs and everything else I could think of out in the garden but doubt we'll have any rain.

Your lawn looks so lush @Hostafan1, ours is very crispy and scrunches when it's walked on.

Hope @Allotment Boy has a smooth flight from Luton with no queues.

    Very oppressive here too, @Dovefromabove.
Glad OH continues to improve, @Lizzie27, hip surgery is truly wonderful.

No way I’m going anywhere near an ironing board in this weather 😧

Glad he’s improving @Lizzie27 … from what I’ve seen from others, using the new hip is definitely the key to a good recovery.

Well, I’ve done all the jobs including making potato salad for supper and freezing four large portions of beans.

Now for a mug of soup, European Multisport championships on tv (mixed diving is on at the moment @Hostafan1) and knitting …

    Hello all.

As it's a lot cooler I've spent 3 hours gardening. I found 2 ready to eat cucumbers. I'll give one to Son 2 tomorrow when I babysit. Still felt hot by the time I finished so had a shower. Back in a summer dress. It's not really cool, just a nice summer day with some clouds, some sun and a little breeze, such a relief after the temps in the high 30s. Just looked, 24°.

Aftenoon folks, Cooler here too and overcast.  It's a bit of a relief after the last few days.  Went round to friends for a cuppa and a catch up.  Other than that not much on the cards.  I spiked the front lawn over a couple of days ago, it was very hard going but I'm hoping we will get some rain and that should help it sink in.

Managed 45 minutes walk in the cool this morning before the cloud lifted, and then it was too hot.
Now finished a late lunch, and listening to thunder rumbling in the distance. OH tells me that the Met Office are updating every ten minutes, thunderstorm predictions are changing every time he looks! Now expected here around five pm. The Met Office is not far from here and we suspect them of looking out of the window to confirm what the computers are telling them!

Had a lovely long afternoon snooze, I probably shouldn't have as I might not sleep tonight but this nursing lark is rather exhausting. OH is using two sticks to get around so can't carry anything - guess who's doing the fetching and carrying! What he needs is a pinny with a large front pocket.

We're still waiting for rain coming up from Devon here. We  need Hosta to do a rain dance for us.

Evening all,  we arrived OK, no queue troubles,  BUT  at Dublin the baggage reclaim, it was chaotic,  and SD'S  case didn't turn up. Sil has brought us & his mum to the cottages,  he's gone back to airport in the hire car to get the rest of family . Cottages seem very good.  Not the best start to the week tho. BTW it was raining when we arrived,  lovely soft rain wish we had that at home.
