    Morning all.

    Thank you @tui34 and @Dovefromabove.

I hope @Hostafan1 is OK. I think it's happening at the moment. Sending hugs.

Chimney sweep has just been for the wood burning stove. Only day he could fit me in, since he couldn't find the house last time. He's moving so I'll have to find someone else last year.

I'm doing odds and ends before leaving at mid day.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Morning all, Off to fat club in a minute but just read @Hostafan1 post about tomorrow and wanted to send Hugs.
We have had a lot of rain overnight and it's quite cool this morning.Ā  You can almost hear the garden breathe a sigh of relief.

    Morning all. Hugs to Hostafan.
Do you mind me asking, was that an unattended cremation?Ā
Rained well into the evening here, dry this morning, a bit of cloud and the sun peeking through. We are forecast a big storm for midday, so we are taking a walk this morning. OH didn’t sleep well last night, actually complained he was cold this morning ( evidently didn’t think to pull a blanket onto the bed) I may change the 1tog duvet for the 2.5 one, but that might tempt fate and provoke another heat wave. OH is still half asleep, and has realised that he has put his dry weather shoes on. Tough, he’ll just have to get his feet wet, although I’d be surprised if the grass hasn’t dried out already.Ā

    Indeed it was.Ā
We'd discussed it years ago and it's what we both want / wanted.Ā
No service, no expecting folk to drive half way across the country to be miserable, no wearing black , no mention of god.Ā
    Nice and easy

Thanks for that info, Hostafan. Seems like such a good idea, especially as it seems that even at ā€˜attended’ cremations, the actual cremation doesn’t take place until later anyway.
Ā I’d like that too. The family could have a gathering at a more convenient time, and my ashes could attend if wanted! I’ve also been considering donating my body to science, if they’ll have it. Having benefitted as a student from the generosity of others, would be a good thing.

Search " direct cremation " Some charge about £3,500 but others as little as £950. I went to the a local funeral directors and haggled them down to £1,300.
Beware companies saying " no hidden extras " I called one to be told ,Ā
"having the ashes couriered back to you costs an extra £115"
    my response wasĀ
" Couriered back? why? will they be in a hurry? "Ā
She didn't think it was funny.Ā

    Hi all

What a difference a day makes, cold, windy and still spattering with rain. Haven't dared venture out yet, not sure I can face seeing all the flattened plants.
Several floods in Sheffield last night.
After talking with you about it, @Hostafan1, I told Moira that I want a funeral like that to.
How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

I've known people take out bank loans to cover £10,000 funerals. " Oh he'd have wanted a good send off " .. Really?
I'd rather share the funeral costs amongst my children
