I don't see weeds that are smaller than the plants @Hostafan1 😉 .
    That's still a LOT to remove,  :(

We'll expect to see a very large compost heap then ... lots of very des res for the slow worms.  ;)

Nah, but to be serious ... you know we don't expect a show garden ... especially not this year ... it's your company we come for ((hugs))

Can I suggest OH's favourite ... a French stick or two, some ripe Brie or similar ... sliced salami etc and lots of grapes ............. we'd think we were in heaven with a repast like that ... absolutely honestly.   B)  We could bring some of it.   :D

Also then it doesn't matter what time we arrive so it takes the pressure off us ... and cuts down on the washing up too ... environmentally friendly 👍

Dove - you absolutely have to take Hosta some Baron Bigod cheese!

Just in for a cool down after the big sort out of the veg bed.  Despite the netting the cabbage whites were getting in and thumbing their noses at me and the cabbages, sprouting broc and cavello nero are all looking very manky.  The chard is fine though. So - a thorough watering first thing, a big weed, a feed and now I'm having a break before mulching it all with some soil improver we got from the GC yesterday.  Then I'll be about the garden deadheading before a good watering this evening.  If only the temperature and fresh feel had stayed the same as it was at 9am this morning!

Afternoon folks, just hitting 27.5c here so have retreated indoors with a cuppa.

I finished my House Number post project this morning, piled up all the biggish stones, scrubbed them and then spray painted them white - they are very, very bright though!
Had a funny moment when a labrador came along behind me when I was bottoms up near the ditch and poked his nose up my bum. It's owner was terribly embarrassed, I thought it hilarious.
Hopefully the delivery lorries/cars/taxis won't try backing/turning into the hedge ditch any more. I've also stuck a white strip on the rear of the post to remind us it's there!
We have to back down our steep drive as it's very narrow, so much so that SM delivery drivers have been known to get stuck and not able to open their doors. Great fun.
OH cleaned the very old gas meter box after lunch so I used up the paint and sprayed that as well. Looks a lot better.

I must say, I do like doing a project.

Baron Bigod cheese sounds morish @didyw, must get some in for OH.

Three hours later and the veg bed if finally done and, hopefully securely, netted.  Took longer than I thought it would so the deadheading will have to wait until the morning.

Half hour to cool down and then into the shower with me!

And it sounds like you have had a productive afternoon too @Lizzie27 - as my mum used to say - that's that job jobbed.

Afternoon folks,  Just got in from sorting out the front garden.  Edged the lawns, pruned a hebe and cut back geraniums.  Looks much better now.  Will mow on a higher setting tomorrow to pick up all the bits left on the lawn.  Have to do it late afternoon as it's in the shade then.
Went to Ashwoods this morning and came back with a fern and a fuchsia to go under the Acer where I cleared out the crocosmia yesterday.  Then popped in Besties for a cuppa and a gossip.  All in all a lovely day.
