Evening everyone, It absolutely poured all morning. @Ladybird4 so we got a taxi to the hospital, otherwise we would definitely have looked like two drowned rats. By the time OH had finished physio the rain had stopped. The bus stop is right outside the hospital and we had roughly 10 minutes till tge bus arrived,Β so decided to bus back. Thankfully by the time we got to our stop for home the sun was shining. It turned out to be a very warm sunny afternoon. It's still warm this evening, a very mixed weather day.Β Glad you're pleased with your haircut and that you enjoyed catching up with your friend.Β A bench is a lovely gift.Β
Gorgeous photo @Busy-Lizzie Thank you for sharing. Sorry to hear your knee is painful today. Take care. Will say night night to you all,Β sleep well everyone.
A very good morning one and all. Canasta day today now that the bus strike is over. Got to pop to the Doc's first thing to hand over my BP readings but that won't take too long. I still haven't got my head around it being a Bank Holiday this weekend.
SGL, I'm glad that you and your OH stayed dry yesterday and I'm pleased you had lots of lovely rain.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
When I was at Bestie's yesterday she introduced me to her new gadget - an air fryer. I was very impressed with it. When I think of my oven and how long it takes to get to cooking temperature it has made me think that this might be a good idea. Pizza from start to finish in 6 minutes! I know that Rosie has had one for a while now. How are you finding yours Rosie?

Good morning everyone . I have been awake most of the night . Love the pic LB . I hope you have a good time at your Canasta club Β .Itβs very cloudy this morning ,more rain expected I am pleased to say . Hose pipe ban starts here in Yorkshire today .
Morning @Ladybird4@Rubee and all to follow.Β A very misty morning.Β Thank you LB we were lucky the weather changed by the time we left the hospital. Garden definitely looks much better after a good soaking. Hope Topbird got some rain too.Β Haven't seen @Ante1 for a couple of days, hope he's ok.Β I'm not sure how air fryers work LB but they seem to be popular.Β Pleased to hear the buses are now running again and you can go to Canasta. Have a lovely day seeing your friends. @Rubee sorry you had a bad night's sleep, have a restful day. Hope OH is feeling OK.Β
I'm still in bed having coffee, but there is a lot of chainsaw and shredder noise outside so, being nosy, I shall get up and have a look. We have a huge ash tree at the end of the drive by the pavement, not sure if it's ours, the NDN's or the Council's, but we were told we need planning permission even to trim it as this is a conservation area. Yet new houses are being built just up the road.
Should be a nice day for gardening, if my knee can manage it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning Ruby, SGL and Busy. I've just got back from the Doc's after dropping off my BP readings. I asked about my blood tests results and I'm pleased to say that all is back to normal and they won't need another blood test for a year. There was a little caveat about keeping an eye on my sugar (and presumably carbohydrate) intake and just to continue with the diet I have been using since May. All I need do now is wait to see what they have to say about my BP.
Ruby, maybe your hosepipe ban won't last too long with the rain that is forecast but I do know it will take an awful lot to get the reservoirs back up to normal capacity.
Busy, my friend Joan who I used to take to Canasta until her eyesight gave out on her was driven demented by a noisy hedge trimmer being wielded yesterday by her NDN in the front garden so she went into her back garden where she was bitten by some pesky critter and she reacted very badly to it. She will be wanting all the goss about today's Canasta session later.

Afternoon everyone, It's turned out to be a very hot day π₯΅Β Did a few unmentionables this morning and a bit of weeding this afternoon. It got too hot to do too much gardening. But at least the earth wasn't rock hard after all the rain yesterday.Β Even after all that rain there's hardly any in the water butts.Β @Ladybird4 hope your friends NDN is now OK after the mozzie bite.Β So pleased that your blood results are ok.Β Β @Busy-Lizzie hope your knee isn't aching today, take care.Β
Afternoon all - warm again but not as unbearably humid as the last few days.
Did a very happy dance yesterday as we had a couple of hours of decent rain.π₯³π₯³
Plants started looking perkier almost immediately and the soil is that lovely rich black colour it should be instead of brown dust. Didn't get nearly as much as some places (quite a bit of flooding in our nearest town 10 miles west) but very grateful for what we had.
LB - glad to hear you are all but signed off by the doc. MIL has an airfryer and she uses it all the time. Finds it a very economical and healthy way to cook. The only downside is that it takes up even more space on her already tiny (over packed) worktop.Β
It's probably a gadget that needs to stay out so I'm not sure if it's for me. I prefer to have really big expanse of worktop (don't even have a fixed draining board) and the only things that stay out permanently are kettle, pot of teabags, toaster and KitchenAid. (I like lots of space for making a mess and can't be done with constantly cleaning round things!) However, an airfryer is definitely cheaper than putting on the oven to cook a single portion of oven chips. Decisions, decisions...
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
