    Morning all.

Oh no @Chivetalking, not you too! I hope nothing bad has happened. We'll miss you.

It was a bit quiet yesterday on here. I was gardening. Moles have been tunnelling like mad in my flower borders. More gardening today, unless it's too hot. We are going to a church coffee morning in the village today.

@Ladybird4 have seen a few butterflies in the garden, especially on the Buddlia. But no where near as many as usual.Β Β
@Biglad that looks like a big chunk chewed from the seed pod. They do self seed quite easily though, bet they grow in places next year where you haven't planted them.

@Chivetalking do hope we see again soon,Β  I too will miss you very much my forum friend. Lots of love x

Posts are all over the place this morning. Still reeling from Chive's news.
Biglad, I reckon you are just wanting the rain to fall so you can duck out of the golf today. That is a neat little hole in your nigella seed pod. I wonder what little critter is responsible for that!
Busy, there is aeration and aeration! Those moles will be finding it very hard to find earthworms in this long spell of dry weather we are having.

    Morning all.

Chive - so sorry to read you're leaving and I do hope everything's ok. I shall miss my fellow E Anglian!

We've probably had fewer butterflies than usual although there have been quite a lot on the buddleias and there are a lot of cabbage whites around.

There were a lot of bees earlier in the year when the plants they love were full of flower (salvias etc). However, there's not many flowers in my garden just now because most things had to be cut hard back due toheat and drought.

We still have plenty of wasps though - there's a nest in one of the raised beds and they're enjoying the windfall fruits.

SM run this morning then making a start on reorganising OH's van ready for next week. Will be trying to stay cool. Was 23C at 5.30am and forecast to reach 30C later today. Can't wait for cooler, fresher conditions to arrive.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Lily I hope you have a rest later. Β Chive your posts will be much missed x. Β Biglad raining here, interesting photo. Β Quite cool today, definitely coat weather, heading to autumn.

The darker 'donut' within the seed pod is a curled up caterpillar. Happily sheltering from the current wet and windy spell. Cheeky little beggar :oΒ

Aaah Biglad, I've been and had another look and I can see the fat caterpillar inside. That deserves to be spared.
