@Allotment Boy I've tried all that but the only thing that works is paracetamol.
My grandsons' tennis tournament turned out to be a nearly all day thing. Son said it was just the morning, but lunch was provided for a small sum and was the usual French thing from 12 to 2pm. One grandson was 2nd and the other was 4th. It's been hot, 28° this afternoon, no shade to sit in by the courts. Grandson 1, 8yrs, gave up, he should have been in the semi final, but he cried and said he didn't feel well, that's why he was 4th. Grandson 2, 7yrs reached the final which was a close thing. They only play 3 games to a set at that age.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hats off to your grandsons for competing in the tennis tournament - and good for you being a dutiful granny and sticking it out for the whole day @Busy-Lizzie. I take turmeric @Allotment Boy to keep my joints supple - or to stop them getting worse. No way of telling if it has any effect. I only take one capsule in the morning; that may not be enough. My hip is hurting now after a fairly long drive.
But worth it! We visited the Walled Garden nursery down the A12 towards Aldeburgh. Lovely; haven't been before. So now have lots of gorgeous plants to fill up the gaps where I'm getting the alkanet out. One of the plants is Parahebe 'Pink Avalance'. It is flowering now and looking very handsome. No idea where I'm going to put it though. As I was dithering over it OH suggested a pot, so that decided me.
I should really be going down to the town now to water the planters but have only just got in and it looks like it might rain. Fingers crossed. Otherwise I shall do them in the morning.
Hi @Allotment Boy 😀 sorry to hear your hands are feeling over 27! Mine too! Pretty sure I've broken a bone in my knuckle but too busy to stop work! Yes turmeric tablets are what I use to help my joints. I do notice when I run out, that's the only way I can judge that they help!
Lovely clear skies this evening after a cloudy day. Summer notes in the garden now with strawberries, sweet peas and the beginnings of tomatoes.
Anyone have a recommendation for a climber that does well in shade? I have a little trellis by the front door and after two years of trying (knowing that it would be too shady) the honeysuckle isn’t doing, so wondering what to try. It needs to be in a pot (so probably another reason why the honeysuckle sulked).
Evening all. Just back from a week in North Devon, a bit damp but not all the time. Visited RHS Rosemoor so will post a few pics on the garden visit thread.
We will probably have a nap this afternoon. The Tour didn’t finish until 1.15am our time and then shower and reading in bed. It was after 2 when I put my iPad down and got to sleep. It was interesting seeing the country around Denmark though and That Bridge (18 km long). Wow!
Im glad you’ve enjoyed your beak, Punkdoc. Probably needed it.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ that looks a bit cold and damp @Pat E … here you are, have a warming cuppa ☕️
That sounds like the perfect finale to your holiday @punkdoc … have a good journey home 😊
Its a glorious morning here … I thought the coffee took a while to arrive … OH has been wandering around the garden in his dressing gown … he’s turned into a proper Forker 😎

@AuntyRach there should be a clematis that would suit. Hagley Hybrid will grow in shade. Have a look at Taylors Clematis.
I must get out and finish weeding my Jewel Bed before it gets too hot. Then we are going to visit a garden in the French NGS.
