Developed a terrible chesty cough last couple of days, difficult to sleep thru, enjoying a relaxing evening on the back abri, listening to the birds, hoping I'll be so tired I'll fall asleep and sleep through.
Got very excited earlier when I managed to film my resident blue tit taking food to babies and flit out of birdhouse again. So close to where I sit, and they're turning into noisy blighters. We're waiting for the overhead heater and jacuzzi to be wired up properly so my video is spoiled by messy extension cables dangling in the way, a bit embarrassed to post on wildlife thread bearing in mind the mess... But I've watched it back a dozen times. I feel like I have a new friend. 😊
Perfect summer evening, warm, still and light. Very calming. Much needed.

@AnnaB you have the new job of announcer for "previously..... on Forkers," now we just need to come up with a theme tune.... ideas anyone? Love it.... caught up, all in one post.... thank you 😊
“Previously….on Forkers” made me laugh @WonkyWomble. Will have to think of a theme tune now.
Enjoyed the Nadal match this evening! Just watered the pots and a parts of the garden but just noticed one of the Hydrangeas needed a soak, but I’ve put the hose etc away now so perhaps I’ll do it before work in the morning. Hands a bit itchy from fiddling with the tomatoes. When will I learn to wear gloves!
I've had a busy day. Weeded the clematis fence bed. All but one hardy fuchsia had died. I hadn't realised that in summer half the bed is in sun, I thought it was quite shady. The foxgloves are doing OK though.
Loaded the car and trailer with rubbish collected over the last year, paint pots, cardboard, an ancient mower etc and took it to the tip.
Went to the big plant nursery. A big clear up was going on, it had been devastated by the hail tornado. All the polytunnels had new polythene rooves. A lot of shrubs and trees had been damaged. I bought more fuchsias for the shady bit and Caryopteris for the sunny bits. The caryopteris had been storm damaged but the owner gave me a 50% discount. I'm sure they will be fine by next year, new shoots were forming already.
Came home, planted the caryopteris and fuchsias, also anemone Honorine Jobert.
Had spag bol for dinner on the terrace, glass of red wine.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Night night all … hopefully by morning someone will have picked up and put that attention-seeking toddler under their arm and marched him out of Downing Street and put him back in his playpen where he belongs. 🥱
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Forecast here is hot and sunny for the next 2 weeks. Thank goodness Dordogne has a lot of rivers and underground rivers. The farmers are harvesting, though some of them haven't much to harvest after the passing of the hail tornado. Heart breaking for them.
The local, mostly English, gardening club is having their annual quiz with bring and share lunch today. I'm making salmon salad. The salmon was in the freezer, bought it for when my daughter was coming in the spring but then they got Covid so didn't come. Not using all of it though.
