I'm waiting for a man to come clear a blocked toilet, which normally means jetting all the outside pipes through.
Count yourselves lucky you don't have HIS job today

And birthday wishes from me too @Pat E - hope he enjoys his new toy - and that it makes life easier for you.

Scorchio here too.  But I love it!  @Hostafan1 - how hot must it be for you to feel warm?

Yesterday we took the car out as I have to every week or so, to get some miles in to keep the battery charged up.  But I have to have a nursery or garden centre as a destination!  Afterwards I thought - who drives 25 miles to buy a crocosmia?  Happy with it though as  I have one flowering now that looked a bit sparse on its own.  Now it has a companion and will fill up that bit of space nicely.  Not sure when it will actually get planted though.

You must be very cold blooded, @h@Hostafan1
Our usual duvet is 7.5 tog, we went down to 4.5 last month, and now have the 1 tog on the bed! We do keep the windows closed at night though, to keep the flying and crawling things out, but the fan is now on all night rather than just on an hours timer until we get to sleep.

We had the window open and just a sheet on the bed. Bedroom was 28°. I like a bit of weight over me so don't sleep so well with a sheet. Too warm for weight.

    Good afternoon!!

It's actually a bit cooler today - 30°C and a sea breeze.  Still not the sort of weather to go galavanting about!!

I am waiting for the vet to phone as the wee doggie seems to have something (maybe grass) stuck in her throat.  She has been trying to clear it since last week and the vet gave me some reflux chalky stuff - but it's persisting.  Apparently, their endoscopy machine gave up last week and is in the repair shop - she will phone me back to say when I can come in or I may have to go into the city to another vet.  Which I don't want to do with this heat.  Not good for me - not good for the dog.  Tarmac is boiling!

So inside games again and perhaps venture out into the vegetable garden to water later today.  I need to do some more weeding, but I also need some encouragement!!

Yes, @Busy-Lizzie  it's hot at night and hot during the day.

I have made some cold infused tea that I bought whilst in Switzerland - that's right - infused with cold water.  Has to be made hours ahead with tap (or mineral) room temperature water.  It can be refrigerated afterwards.  My neighbour is popping over soon, so that will be an education for her - tea - not iced - just cold.  You can add fruit such as berries or apricots.... maybe not lemon.

Enjoy the heat while you can up there in Blighty - I believe it isn't going to last - or maybe the rain will warm up by next week!!

PS  Here is a photo of my lavender (that I water regularly) which I bought in Lidl some years ago for 1€79 all dried up!!

A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Afternoon all, staying indoors at the moment to keep cool like everyone else @Hostafan1 and @Pat E excluded!
Early and late watering everyday at the moment. Fly screens and plug-in mozzie things are good for night time so we can have a window open.
I have loads of cucumbers that need doing something with, I have already made some soup for the freezer but it's too hot to cook now!
I try and buy OH presents that will benefit me Pat!
