No loft hatch here, the upstairs bedrooms are under the sloping roof. The loft is only under the ex-garage roof. There is a skylight on the landing. It made the landing feel like a greenhouse so I opened it, slightly better but still too hot. I have to keep the bedroom doors shut.

Good morning Forkers - you all seem to be busy bees - hope the next couple of days aren't too uncomfortable for you.

Just wanted to respond to @Dovefromabove 's post about loft hatches. Hadn't really thought about it but it makes sense. Our loft is quite well insulated and gets very hot in summer and very cold in winter.

We sometimes go away for a couple of weeks January / February time and we always leave the house heating on but turned down to a very low setting (abt 12C). That keeps the house above igloo temps but also keeps water moving in the central heating pipes in the loft etc. I often leave the loft hatch open for that period to allow some (slightly) warmer air into the loft and also to ensure that the central heating does come on a bit while we're away. Really don't want to come home to burst pipes!

Today I was up at 6am opening all windows and doors to get a really good through draught of cool air. They were all tightly closed and windows / blinds drawn by 8am. At the moment it's approaching 30C outside in the shade but it's a very comfortable low 20's in the house. If it heats up later I'll try the loft hatch thing.

Keep cool everyone - except for Hosta and Pat E of course😎

    Good morning all.
It's lovely and warm here. Long may it continue.
    Visited Hubby this morn
ing and had him weighed. He's now 8 stone 11. 3lbs down since last week.
They've just called to say he'd fallen over in the corridor again, but he's back in bed and settled now.

@Busy-Lizzie. Daughter is fine Liz,  looking after all her little babies today.
She’s training for a couple of charity rides,  she loves her long rides on her own, the boys are old enough to take care of themselves 13 and 19 so it’s her time now.

Bless you both @Hostafan1 … as long as he’s comfy ((hugs))

32+ in the shade in our back garden.

Our garage is on the north side of the house and faces west so it’s quite cool in there in the morning … however the studio that leads off it and opens into the kitchen gets all the morning sun … so this morning we opened the door from the garage to the studio … it’s made a bit of a difference. We’ll close it as soon as the sun gets over the house …

Stepped out into the garden this morning - Greece!  Lovely!
But stepped back into the cool of the house again quite quickly.
Just about to take a covid test.  Not sure if what I am feeling is just the heat or ... Have been doing quite a bit of mixing with people this last week and one of our book group tested positive.
Fingers crossed not as I have quite a bit on this week as well.
Hats off to your daughter @Lyn.

My sympathies to those of you feeling the heat. I hate it when it’s hot. Not looking forward to our summer.
Hosta, you must be very anxious about Hubby. You must feel helpless. At least you know they are looking after him and keeping him as well as possible.

Thanks Pat.  My gut feeling is he's on his way  out.
