Yes @Pat E … just got a short  double row .., fewer than 20 plants, but we’ve been picking nearly a kilo a day this week .., I’ve never picked so many this early in the season before.

Afternoon everyone,  much like everyone else a hot sticky night last night. Went to plots today to water & pick. Courgettes the size of my thumb 2 days ago now nearly marrows
Have given away some to neighbours, SD came the other eve and took loads
OH is going with the rest to local food bank, hope they want them.
We are picking armful of French beans at the moment,  already given awy some this is what's left from today's pick.
Mixed , green, yellow and purple ones

Afternoon all, seems to have been an uncomfortable night for most people, us included, odd when we slept very well the night before when it was hotter.

Appalled the fire scenes at Wennington, those poor people! I was looking out of our front window and trying to visualize the large wood/hillside opposite us on fire, quite frightening to think it could happen so easily. My big viburnum and tree-like pittosporum
haven't been watered at all and now a lot more leaves have gone yellow and are dropping all over the place.

I've been busy inside most of the day, two lots of washing, making beds up and thorough cleaning because we've got two lots of visitors tomorrow. Thankfully only one couple are staying overnight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my SM order will be complete as I'm planning a fisherman's pie, mainly because the husband has throat difficulties and needs soft things to eat.  Was going to make a gooseberry fool for afters but haven't got enough gooseberries so it will have be a trifle instead.

Those beans look smashing @Dovefromabove and @Allotment Boy. We didn't get our act together this year and left it too late. I did manage to sow carrots but have a sneaking suspicion that I'm nurturing love in the mist seedlings instead! I can recognise 1 proper carrot seedling but not sure of the rest.

Evening all, been messing around on the river today, although it was a bit low and the kayaks got stuck several times. Enjoying a lovely Italian meal this evening with Charlie and his pal, but he's very embarrassed I'm taking photos. The two of them have been playing chess since we got back from kayaking, such serious souls. Bless.

Cooler today, very pleasant, such a shame about all the fires. Take care all.

That all looks very civilised @D0rdogne_Damsel … but you’ve just made me realise that there’s no bottles of rosé left in the garage … 😲
Love a game of chess with OH … we’re pretty well matched … haven’t played recently tho … I keep falling asleep in the evening. 🙄

    Hi all.

Cloudy and cooler today so I caught up on some garden jobs and gave everything a water. I am running out of room to bin and compost stuff after some hedge trimming and pruning.

Sounds like many of you have been busy today: Harvesting, knitting, cleaning, volunteering, school runs, watering, cooking, shopping, kayaking and walking! Get your feet up now people!

    Night all.

@Lizzie27 it's not yet too late for some climbing French beans. Blue lake is a good late cropper if you want to give them a go.
