We are glad the race has moved on @Pat E, so many road closures around the town. good that your OH is getting his cataracts done, I am waiting to get mine done.
Glad that your hubby has got appointments for his cataracts @Pat E. Everyone I know who has had the op marvels at the results. I just wish my dear late MIL would have agreed to have hers done but she was stubborn when it came to her own health, insisting that she was perfectly fine. She lived to 95 so perhaps she was right.
How frustrating for your bro @Dovefromabove - can he find some other retailers he could supply his current harvest? Why aren't people buying potatoes? They go with everything! And potato salad is just delicious.
The little pre-Festival one-day festival I am involved with this year has ambitions to be much bigger next year. Our little procession this year will be as nothing. Think bull-running in Pamplona said the person who is behind it all. But your words are quite salutary @floralies - will the populace of our little town be ready for something like that??? Â
They and the other farms in their farming cooperative supply vast amounts @didyw  … there are no other buyers big enough to take the quantities Bro and his pals are having to put in expensive rented storage. Also, if they supply the smaller buyers they’ll be putting other smaller producers out of business …Â

Back from our little jaunt. York Gate gardens were beautiful, although small, managed to blag a private tour with Jack, one of the senior gardeners, by telling him how much I had enjoyed his episode on the talking Dirt podcast and he gave me a freebie.
Dinner at the Angel in Hetton, was good, but not as good as some of the reviews suggested.
Today on the way home we popped into Harlow Carr, which was also looking fab.
Hope all are well, I am tired so off for a kip.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@Dovefromabove. Is your brother farming in Cornwall or have I imagined that. Our tesco could do with getting some decent spuds in,  no Cornish new and no jackets this week. Just  been to the farm shop for them.Â

@lyn he farms on the lighter lands of east Suffolk a large acreage … his own land, rented land and land he contract farms.  Yes … Tesco are selling Egyptian potatoes. 😖Â

I recall seeing on TV a while ago, on a farm who supplied Parsnips to a large SM chain. They had just dug up the next batch due, when they received an email cancelling that weeks consignment. Same problem for them they couldn't divert them to another outlet so they were all discarded into a pit in the ground.

An utterly vile organisation with no morals whatsoever
