    Good morning all "Pat E"
    Hello @Pat E😊
    camping sounds lovely @D0rdogne_Damsel 🏕
18C here at the moment but set to rise of course. We’ll water the veg and pots in a little while … pick beans and laze about for the next day or two.
I’m putting the slow cooker on in a bit for a sort of Chinese-style broth for a sort of ramen dish with pork belly and chard this evening. It’ll be light to eat, and with the soy it’ll have a bit of salt which we need in hot weather. There should be enough for two days 👍
Otherwise we’ll be staying in the shade, drinking chilled water and watching the world championship athletics. 😃

    Hi all

Gearing up for the heat here, just about to water some of the pots, then going to hibernate.
    Stay safe everyone.

Morning all, couldn't post yesterday as internet down all day, much to our frustration just when we needed to stay inside and amuse ourselves. We were both very rather aghast about how much we depend on it and can't imagine life without it.

Had a quiet day anyway, just kept up with the watering, I'm trying not to get the hosepipe out but most of our butts were empty by late last night. I've put parasols and umbrellas over vulnerable plants to give them a bit of shade. Hit 33c at 6.30 pm.
My sister and BIL called in on their way home with my presie, another rose 'Elizabeth' and he very kindly lifted the two big terracotta pots into their new position for me. I've put both roses into the shade and will wait till its cooler before re-potting them. Both have blooms already, very delicate, pretty pale pink ones.

Grandson is due to go on a school trip to Thorpe Park on rollercoasters today, we're all surprised it hasn't been cancelled. Imagine trying to keep track of 30 odd 14 yr olds in a pleasure park!

Enjoy your downtime with Charlie @D0rdogne_Damsel, you deserve it.

Commiserations on having to go into work today @AuntyRach, I don't envy you.

I'm also wafting around in a floaty cotton beach dress and not much else @Dovefromabove and others, fortunately we had quite a strong breeze here yesterday which made life easier. We're just snacking mostly on cold meats/salad and fruit. Far too hot to put the oven on.

    Stay cool and safe everyone.

Morning everyone,  glad to hear everyone is doing well.
Got the dead Osmanthus out and into an old compost sack. Moved all the bags of plant and some soil to the back gate. Managed that in the shade but then stopped for a few hours. Spent evening watering both garden and Allotments.
Much warmer last night,  we might have to sleep downstairs next 2  nights we will see.

    Morning all.

I hope you manage to have a good rest @D0rdogne_Damsel and the heat isn't too bothersome.

Good heavens @Lyn! I hope your daughter feels OK today.

Not looking forward to the heat. No plans for today.

Is anyone going to open their loft hatch? It's supposed to cool the upstairs 'cos hot air rises etc ... does it work in practice?

Slept in till 8.30am, although I wish I’d woken earlier and avoided the last dream. Arguing with a crowd of contractors who were digging a trench the length of the pavement alongside a row of trees. I was winning until one of them produced a rifle. Can’t remember if I had cheese last night!
21C already, but cloudy. Met Office radar shows there was a rain shower not far away, but missed us. Heard a big bang last night which we assumed was thunder. I haven’t checked round the house yet, it might have been something falling over!

We have thought about it but it's very dusty and full of spiders webs I don't think Mrs AB will let me.

Phew just back from the tip, having got rid of all the diseased Osmanthus and quite a bit of soil. Felt a bit bad in that it's all going to landfill.  It was 24C when I left it's 29C now according to the car gauge. Going for a lukewarm shower now and collapse for the rest of the day.
