It's interesting - some dahlias of that style seems to reveal stamens, some don't. Aruna seems to reveal them at the last minute, before they go over.

    Beautiful range of dahlias!

I succumbed and bought 2 Café au Laits this year… not loving it, tbh! Huge, prolific blooms, but they have very short stems, and are tricky (for me anyway!) to arrange nicely in a vase. Also, they take up so much space! Big blooms and big leaves!

Yes I agree JanieB ,my neighbour has cafe au lait in her front garden and they are huge and to my mind actually quite an ugly flower .I like the singles ,but then I like anything that resembles a daisy …….just me .

@Janie B Yes, huge a huge affair, but lovely colouring, like whipped ice cream.   We can disbud and pinch out side shoots to have longer stems with fewer blooms. Florists and people growing for show do this.

@Janie B  Emma below says that Cafe au Lait is a variety known for having shorter stems, but you can still pinch out side shoots to create longer stems for arrangements.

Pinching out dahlias in the spring to bush out the plants. And on planting out.

My species Coccinea has a few buds again. I'm wondering if I should have pinched it out.
