Morning Biglad. Wow you got some bargains there! Well worth the diversion. Flipping Marti here! On and off admittedly but enough to put me off venturing outdoors. Going to sow some seeds but will do that task in the kitchen.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Morning all, Today I will be mostly on Nanna Duty. I'm taking it easy until I drive over as I'm aching from yesterday's gardening efforts. You've made a lovely little corner Hazel. Hope you don't need any treatment at the dentist @Dovefromabove Hopefully we are going to get some nice weather soon, according to the met office. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Having a cuppa . Well what a performance we had last night .We were asleep when the phone rang at two forty . I was going to ignore it thinking it could be a scam call . Then I thought I had better answer in case Rosie needed us .When I answered the phone there was a croaky voice speaking to me . At first I didn’t understand who it was . Then I realised it was Jim next door .He had fallen in the kitchen and couldn’t get up . We quickly put our dressing gowns on ,found Jim’s keys and went round to his home . He was laying in an awkward position on the kitchen floor . There was no way that either myself or other half could lift him from that position . Jim said he didn’t think he was hurt but couldn’t get up .Because of his age 99 we thought he should have a check up and have someone to help him up .OH called an ambulance ,and was told it would be a two hour wait ,they were very busy . We found a blanket on his sofa and a cushion to put up to his neck . Didn’t want to tuck it under his head in case there was a problem .OH insisted that I go home .Iwas very concerned leaving him .He had a chair pulled up as near to Jim as was safe and he seemed to be ok .When I got home I popped round at intervals to look through the window to make sure OH was coping . I can’t take what little independence away from him .So I didn’t want him to see me . Two hours came and went .The ambulance turned up four hours after OH had contacted them . paramedics examined Jim and said he was just shocked and uncomfortable. Jim wanted to go to bed . The paramedics put Jim to bed and said they would get him some help .OH walked up our path just turned 7 o’clock .Someone was at Jim’s this morning .We haven’t been to bed ,no point at that time .Sorry about the long explanation .
SGL, you can definitely come with us. As Hazel says 'The more the merrier'.
Yvie, charge up your batteries before Nanna duty. I've got my fingers crossed for some nice weather too.
Yes, Hazel, my Weigelas are cut along with the rest of the shrubs I have in my front hedge and that keeps them under control.
Biglad, I've got patches of blue sky too but not enough as yet. I would have grabbed the lot at those giveaway prices too but don't forget your 80+ still to sort!
Oh Ruby, there is no need to apologise for your post. It gave us a full description of the plight poor Jim was in and how you and your OH assisted. A 4 hour wait for an ambulance is a dreadful amount of time but I guess they have to judge on what information the caller gives about the invalid. This is so reminiscent of Jack's recent fall. I was pleased to hear that someone had called around to Jim's though. Have you heard yet how he is? Hopefully he's just a bit shaken. I bet you and your OH are as well. Definitely a day for you two to rest easy and well done for your good Samaritan assistance.

Well done Ruby good neighbours like you are worth their weight in gold such a shame it was such a long wait I would have thought a fall in such an elderly gentleman would be prioritised. The silver lining is your OH got the chance to take care of others for a change and that will have boosted his mood.
Just left Ikea spent rather more than I planned what’s new?
Debs - a goodly haul there. Love the big pots and the bottles look as though you've just had a jolly party! I see what you mean about the bottles though - they are rather nice.

I suspect they'll be long gone by now but I might venture back later on...
Occasional blue sky gaps here @Ladybird4. I'll brave the breeze in an hour or three
