Great photo @Hostafan1. I have them in my French garden but was never quick enough for a photo.Ā

Niece and friend came, we had a good chat. They enjoyed lunch and had seconds.

    Evening.

I haven’t seen the spotted woodpeckers in my garden this year, but a green one flies in occasionally. We had an old apple tree which collapsed it’s branches a few years ago but we kept the trunk in situ whilst we thought what was best to do. I planted a climbing Hydrangea and that’s covering it nicely, but the main reason to keep it now is that birds of all sorts like to sit on the top, and the woodpecker has a tap about on it.Ā

Full, strawberry, super moon tonight folks. I’m hoping the sky stays clear.Ā

    I hope you are ok.Ā

Lovely pic of the woodpecker. We see them most days on our suet pellet feeder. Actually had a green woodpecker in the garden this week, checking out round the old tree stumps for ant nests.
Really hot and sunny here today, but we kept in the shade of the trees, and OH strimmed the weeds along the side of the pavement. Certainly looks less neglected out there now, and the green bins are full. Collection day seems to come round every few days, despite being fortnightly!

Evening all, we've had a gorgeous day out in the Cotswolds today. Been to Chipping Camden, Sezincote and Snowshill Manor, all lovely. I'll post pics on on the Garden Visits thread tomorrow, too tired tonight. Had a bit of an oops moment at Sezincote, the main gates were open so we drove in and parked near a coach, thought it was a bit quiet though and nobody was in the ticket office so wandered up to the house, a Mughal palace built in 1805 (?) very odd but stunning. We were admiring the huge elephant statutes when we were accosted and told the gardens were actually shut for visitors! It had only been opened today for a private tour by the coach party. The chappie saw the funny side of it though and invited us back when the cafe would be open.

So glad for Secondborn @Yviestevie, there are some very kind people around.

We have a similar woodpecker around @Hostafan1 but my word, he can hoover up an awful lot of sunflower seeds very quickly. We have goldfinches, greenfinches and a chaffinch going head to head for a place on the seedfeeders at the moment, it's quite amusing to watch.

Oh had an interesting soup yesterday, curried carrot and parsnip.Ā

Love that story @Yviestevie, with all the crap going on, it is nice to hear something heart warming for a change.

Soooo pleased for secondborn @Yviestevie šŸ˜€šŸ˜€šŸ˜€. Ā Fingers crossed this is the beginning of a very happy new chapter for her.

What a day of cricket! Ā Have been a big Jonny Bairstow fan ever since we sat on the table next door to him in a burger bar in Brisbane. Ā Quietly going about his business with no fuss. Ā Chicklet didn’t believe he was ā€œfamousā€ until she had done a quick google images 🤣

thanks folks. It was one of those ā€˜offers over’ situations. Secondborn could only go Ā£4k over but knew that it would go for a lot more. The estate agent said that much higher offers had been received but the vendor was adamant that Secondborn should have it. I think it’s the first nice thing that’s happened to her in a long time.Ā
