Morning all. Off to the seaside for a walk this evening. But before that I have seeds to sow, seedings to prick out and plants to pot on ……busy busy.
Pleased to report that the 4 tonnes of mulch delivered on Friday has now been distributed round the flower beds …..it looks very smart out there now 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 But me and he are glad its only a once a year job 🤣
Many years ago, Moira and I, her eldest brother and then wife and their 2 kids had Christmas dinner there, @Dovefromabove. I remember it was wonderful. They bought me a fishing gnome to put by our pond. He still checks I have not thrown it away, whenever he visits.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Sounds a real find @punkdoc ... I mean the hotel, not the gnome ... Ma had one of those by their pond, but it disappeared and was replaced by a sort of 'chinese dog' thingummy ... I've inherited it.
Aha, embarrassed locksmith ... he just phoned ... now he realises what it was I said when he phoned before ... it's Bank Holiday Monday isn't it? Is it ok if he comes tomorrow? Yes that's fine I'd better pot those plants on today then ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I've potted on the runner beans ... I sowed them a week earlier than I usually do to try to fit in with us going away, but it's amazing the difference a week makes and I'm rather regretting it now ... they'll need canes before long and it's far too early to plant them out ... I'll have to give them a tomato cane each.
I've come indoors for a bit as the robins were shouting at me from the ash tree ... the only place I have to do my potting on is at 'their end' of the terrace where their nest is, and they're not quite brave enough to pass that close to me yet ... a few years ago they, or their relatives, were taking mealworms from our hands and flying indoors to shout at us if we didn't go out there to feed them. We stopped feeding them by hand because we were worried that they'd come indoors and we wouldn't notice and might go out and shut them indoors!

We have had our "expert" report and whilst it supports our claim that we were supplying gas to the neighbours, it believes we cannot prove how much gas that is. That is despite Moira putting together 5 years worth of bills etc. The b#####d is going to get away with it again, he owes so much money to so many people, yet lives in the lap of luxury.

That's so frustrating, @punkdoc, thank goodness he has moved though.
Morning all.
We are going to the cinema this afternoon to see Downton Abbey.
A man just rang the bell. His daughter is on the green over the road selling cakes for their Scouts trip next year. I bought some cakes. Couldn't resist eating one, coffee walnut cup cake, really good. Have Brownies and Tiffin as well.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
We are cruising towards Dusseldorf, after being at Arnhem overnight. We visited the Palace at Het Loo, (William and Mary's summer Palace). Very formal gardens, spoke to a gardener about trimming all the box, it seems they have a machine that runs on the metal edges, and does nearly all of it. Sorry only one picture to show on here, I find it near impossible to use my mobile camera in bright sun, can't see what I'm doing! Some lovely tulips, lots of bare soil in between though
Afternoon all. Only seen Het Loo through the railings on an EU business trip to Apeldoorn decades ago. I remember feeling a bit disoriented after a couple of days because it was so flat! I was living in Glasgow at the time so it was a very different landscape to the one I was used to.
Just had a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed young fibre broadband salesman on the doorstep - very tempted as we would get about 10 times current speed for £500 less a year than BT currently offer but we would need to wait until Nov when the current contract ends.
Been gardening with a pickaxe again, trying to eradicate gaultheria from a 45 degree sloping bank behind the house. Only fell off once but that is once too many for a 27 year old, nearly head-butted the greenhouse!
Afternoon folks, Reclining on the sofa with a cuppa after an eventful and exhausting weekend. On Saturday I baked Jonah's birthday cake. On Saturday over to Secondborn's school to get the hall ready for the party bouncy slide and castle. 30+ six year olds entertained in the afternoon following by a drive to Shrewsbury for niece's retirement party which lasted until midnight. Stayed overnight in a hotel with a very uncomfortable bed and then popped into niece's for a coffee and to say bye before driving home again. I'm too old for this malarky.
@Hostafan1 don't look at the PITA thread unless you want to have a heart attack.
