..it looks huge !.. is that a tropical Hibiscus?  I'm not familiar with them other than seeing quite a few in gardens around the Fiji Islands..

@Marlorena It is a hardy hibiscus that can handle a fair amount of cold (zone 5-9 in the US, not sure about UK equivalent). My aunt has a large collection of the tender tropical type, and every year she constructs a greenhouse around the plants. This kind stays compact, only about 2' x 2', but the flowers are just as impressive and in exchange I don't have to fuss about a greenhouse or protecting them in situ.

Oh ok, that's quite hardy then, surprising.   Seems like a good plant to have around..

  • I asked this question yesterday evening in a post of its own but on reflection this is probably a better place for it… are these Erigeron Karvinskianus seedlings?

Looks like a Poppy to me.

Probably better to start a new thread, when you want a plant identified.

That’s the answer I got last night too- but there are no poppies in my garden. I think a neighbour may have one or two.

    Poppy seeds turn up anywhere.

I'm not sure to be honest, perhaps someone else has a better idea, but here's one of mine which is not so advanced as yours, it has a succulent look, glandular hairs..  I should know because I've been trying to get rid of these for years, wish I never planted it.. it seeds all over my driveway now..
