Welsh poppies grow all over the place here, and occasionally orange ones appear. Tough as old boots, taproots like carrots, so no problem overwintering. Too many to dead head but I do my best!
Many years ago we visited an NGS garden where bluebells grew with orange Welsh poppies.....I've never forgotten it. I tried to replicate the colours with blue aquilegia and orange Welsh poppies, but never quite achieved it. I will try again though.
...sounds nice Woodgreen.. I don't think I've ever seen those together in Bluebell woods..
Lithodora 'Grace Ward'.. electric blue, evergreen and it spreads so I have to move this. It also goes bare in the centre after some years, but this variety can have a long season of flowering, not just Spring but throughout the year. I've counted at least 40 flowers open one year in January, on a larger plant than this..
The Green Man..I love Ferns, even though I don't have any, just enjoy watching the fronds unfurling every day.. nice Epimedium, not one I know..
.. and you're so lucky to have 'Joseph Rock', just about my favourite tree for most gardens. I used to have one in Cornwall, it was fabulous... here, I've returned to Sorbus vilmorinii, which is more compact. Not sure if I've got any flowers forming.. Geranium 'Russell Prichard' opened today.. the earliest I think I've ever had it.. Rhodanthemum 'Sunset Peach' is not my favourite of these, but it's quite bright, so I like that.. ..and I just love anything red.. Helianthemum 'Supreme' ['Red Orient']..
Think this will post sideways sorry. I love this Polygonatum Betburg. It has been in my garden for three years and I have only had one flower very slow to bulk up.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

..I prefer simple Poppies although I've never grown the Welsh type..
