Good morning RosieBB and all to join us later. Please don't speak to me about utilities - it brings me out in a rash! Seriously RosieBB, I feel your frustration. Any chance you could phone them through or even email them. If you go down the email route at least you will have proof you have sent them - even better with a picture of your meter/s.

Whatever you have planned today, I hope it all goes smoothly. My neighbours' car roofs are all covered in frost not surprising as it is 0°C outside at the moment. Hope it has warmed up a little when I drive to my Bestie's later. I'm having my hair cut and coloured today and it is ready for the cut - there are similarities between my fringe and that of a highland cow.

    Morning all,

Lovely winter's day - clear and frosty with a sprinkling of the white stuff. Fingers crossed that no plants take umbrage to it but, if they can't hack it, they probably don't belong here.

Work has gone well so far this week, which is just as well because a chunk of tomorrow afternoon will be written off by my two visitors. I'm actually looking forward to what the garden drainage chap comes up with :) I'm hoping it will push me towards a decision on what I can/will do with the 'pond' area.

    Enjoy your trim @Ladybird4

Good morning. Very cold at the bus stop this morning. Another long day at work beckons. Graham is still sulking until the warmer weather returns. Green bin is being emptied today but I have enough garden waste to refill it immediately.
Hope everyone has a good day. Good luck with the haircut LB and please all wrap up warm if you are going out.
  • Keep warm everyone, it’s snowed overnight and looking rather scenic.  LB wishing you a good journey to your besties today.  Debs let’s hope the sunshine soon returns.  Biglad your highland cow is rather handsome.

Good morning Ruby, Biglad and Debs.
Ruby, I will be taking extra care as going to my Bestie's I have to negotiate an extremely steep hill. So steep that in some times in the past when going to work the police have prevented motorists from descending it and redirected us via the M6. At least we can guarantee that road will be well salted.
    Biglad, that is IT exactly!
Debs, my green bin is being emptied today and I'm poised for the refilling of it. I think I will be double layered going out.

    Morning all.

They keep changing our weather forecast. Friday's snow is cancelled and so is a lot of the rain for next week. The garden could do with a downpour.

I'm going to a people from church tea and chat afternoon.

I've bought my ferry ticket to go back to the UK, can't remember if I've said, for the 12th April. Will stay at Daughter 1's in France on the way, then a night with OH's daughter in Eastbourne.

    Morning all. 🥶

We've rented a static caravan for the 4 nights we are here near Pitlochry. It's a big, clean, warm and really rather comfortable base and at £20 a night (Black Friday special deal!) it's cheaper than camp site fees and much more convenient than the camper.

However, this morning we had no water. Not sure whether it was a general site problem (next door was off too) or the supply pipe was frozen. OH is going to walk down to reception in a bit to find out. We need to know as we have an early start tomorrow. Back on again now so that's a relief!

We had a few white showers yesterday and OH decided to not go out on the bike. He came to Dundee with me instead. Went to the RRS Discovery which was a polar exploration / research tall ship. Famous crew included Scott and Shackleton. The museum was excellent and it was very interesting exploring the ship itself.

My mother's family were sea farers and my Grandpa first went to sea at the age of 12 in 1907. He was one of the last members of the society for British sea farers who rounded Cape Horn in tall ships. He had many tales to tell of life at sea - several of those were rather tall as well...

Also had a wander round the Dundee branch of the V&A museum (the V&A in London is one of my very favourite museums). The Dundee building is an absolutely stunning piece of contemporary architecture in a beautiful location. However, apart from one smallish gallery about Scottish design history, I have to say there wasn't anything else in there to interest me - which was a tad disappointing.

It's a huge, cathedral-like space filled with not much. I think they are going to have to rethink how they use it if this is to be the truly successful venture both the building and Scotland deserve. On a positive note - the cafe looked every bit as good as it's London cousin. Excellent sounding food. Missing the beautiful Victorian tiling of course but more than compensated for by an airy, sunny space with stunning views over the water🙂

Not sure what we'll do today. My plans have been scuppered by roadworks (diversions in  rural Scotland always seem to involve 10's of additional miles rather than an extra 4 or 5) so it might be a very lazy one.

Rosie BB - hope you get your utilities account sorted out. Not what you need. I've just had what I'm 99% certain is a phishing text purporting to be from Brit Gas. Very naughty when so many people are worried about the energy price rises from tomorrow.

Slightly concerned that MIL's boiler is playing up. She seems to have the matter in hand with a local company, but I hope she won't be without heating for too long when it's so cold.

Hello everyone ... it was very scenic here first thing this morning ... white roofs and lawns, followed by a complete whiteout as we drank our first coffee ... this was followed by several sharp sleety showers, but now the sun is out and the snow has gone ... with the sun have come strong gusty winds, blowing stuff around and I've been out moving some large boards into a less windswept place as they were banging around annoying me and probably annoying the neighbours as well.

Although we have had snow it's not been freezing so I don't think there's too much damage done ... certainly the magnolia across the way looks ok so far ... so no need for Topbird to be too concerned about her garden  :)

Afternoon everyone a cold blustery day, we saw a snow flurry this morning and again just now but it was short lived thankfully,
LB I hope all is going well with your haircut and chat with bestie, hope the roads are clear for a safe journey home. Good news about the tree you wanted, hope the weather improves in time for its arrival,
Topbird The caravan sounds like comfy accommodation for a few nights and at a good price. Hope MILs boiler is sorted out soon, not a time of year you want to be without hot water & or heating,
Bluebells I hope you’ve managed to resolve the issues with your online utility account and updated your meter readings. Hope the snow soon clears away, keep warm & snug with Alfie,
Rubee I hope your boiler is now fully functioning as it should be after the last new parts have been installed 🤞
Hazel Hope your visit to see daughter has gone to plan today and you’ve got all you needed from the SM, nice to catch up with your son yesterday,
Debs I hope Graham accepts the situation he is in and starts to eat, hope work goes well and you’re not waiting in the cold for too long to get home.
Busy I hope you are having a good tea & chat with the church people this afternoon, the Vanilla Fraise is a lovely gift for your DIL,
SGL I hope you are keeping warm, I was doing a few unmentionables myself over the last few days and the only consolation is that I’m up to date on all those grotty jobs 😇😊
Hope Max is recovering well from his ordeal Ante & not trying to walk too much on his damaged paw,
Last day of school tomorrow before we break for Easter, looking forward to some free time.
Have a nice rest of your day everyone.
