Good afternoon all. Debs thank you for sharing that gorgeous picture of Thomas in his romper suit. He is a darling! Love the fluffy tail.
Busy you sound to have had a wonderful day, visiting a GC and buying some plants for shady places. We can guess what you might be doing tomorrow.
Hazel, good to hear your potting bench is up and running and you've christened it already. When are you off to see your Mum?
Ruby, I love lupins too I've one in a pot in my garden that shows up regularly every year but I'm thinking of putting it into the garden now and allowing it some freedom.

Afternoon all - phew wot a scorcher! Over 20C here at the moment - just had a rather nice cup of tea and HCB (lightly toasted with butter) in the garden - all very pleasant.

We've not had much rain at all since the autumn and the borders are starting to dry out quite alarmingly. Have done some major plant shuffling and new plantings over the last few weeks so I've had to put the sprinkler on one of the borders this afternoon. I'll try to mulch it tomorrow to help retain the moisture.

@Busy-Lizzie - yes I know the Plantsman's Preference well - have quite a few of their geraniums in my garden. It's a funny, slightly ramshackle sort of place isn't it? but the guy there is pretty knowledgeable about his stock. If you're looking for summer bedding in a few weeks time, I usually use Hillcrest nurseries at Stanton. They have good veg plants too. Need to have a trip to Mickfield hostas soon (once all the leaves have properly unfurled so I can pick the nicest ones) - I now have space for about 4 more plants🙂

Chive - glad your TV is sorted out. Irritating when that sort of thing stops working.

LB - well done on your foodbank session yesterday - sounds hard work but very rewarding.

Right need to get on with prep for dinner now - SYL🙂

Thanks @Topbird I've been to Hillcrest a few times. We also used their farm shop during lockdown. They still had flour when no one else did.

    Evening all,

Up late this morning after working VERY late last night. Had a steady day in the garden. Finally replaced the section of pipe that drains around the side and back of the house from the washing machine. The leak has gone, hopefully ;)

Can't believe how many bluebells have sprung up in the border I cleared last year. I've dug another load out but still more to go.

Painted another two planters. Still got 4 at various stages of completion. Need to get them finished and out of the shed as it is packed and irritating :o

Just a joy to be outside and see so many things doing so well. We could be in for a bumper blueberry harvest this year. Netting the 3 planters to stop the birds getting involved is a new priority. This was my favourite sight of the day though :)

Biglad, I have been trying for 20+ years to get rid of bluebells (and crocosmia!) from my garden and they both come back every year as if nothing has happened so good luck with that onslaught. Beautiful picture of your tulip too - thank you for sharing.
Ruby you are so lucky to have red kites near you. I have kestrels and buzzards round my area.
Just watched Beechwood and now for GW so I'm signing out for today. See you all tomorrow.

  • LB a bright sunny day today and put my summer jacket on to pop out.  Lily I had a few hours sleep thank you.  I’m glad you had a better night.  Debs how lovely for Graham to enjoy dandelions and the warmth of the sun.  Hazel how lovely of your oh to make you a potting table.  I hope this makes things much better.   Debs a lovely romper suit.  Thomas looks lovely.  Busy your shady plants sound lovely.  Top bird I had a buttered hot cross bun at Rubees, lovely.  Big lad I love bluebells.  I’ve been to a bluebell wood and it was a lovely place to visit.  Time for pyjamas and toothy peg brushing.  Night night all.

I agree @bluebellsintherain. There's a bluebell wood near where I grew up that I used to love but I don't want them taking over where I want to grow other stuff. They don't look good for long in my front garden and prevent me getting all manner of good stuff planted. They've got to go I'm afraid :(

Aww @debs64 what a gorgeous photo of Thomas. Lovely little Easter suit, your daughter is very clever Debs.

What a gorgeous hot sunny day it's been today. Hoping this will last all weekend. After doing a few bit this morning we then spent time in the garden. Had our lunch outside too.
@Songbird-1 you've been busy in the garden today. OH didn't take long to finish your  potting bench, must have come in very handy today.  How is your son and brother feeling now. Do hope they are getting better.  Are you still able to go and visit your mum this weekend?
I love Bluebells, we have some wild ones growing around the garden and near the oak tree.
@Busy-Lizzie glad you enjoyed your visit to the GC, plants sound lovely. I like loins too. I don't have much luck with them in this garden. Had quite a few in the garden we had before.
    Lovely pic @Biglad.
Glad you got a good nights sleep @bluebellsintherain hope you sleep well tonight too.

Night night everyone sleep well and sweet dreams.
