Some lovely roses coming through. I said last year we were going to have a cracking season this year because of all the new and different roses coming so finger’s crossed I haven’t jinxed it!
@Victoria Sponge I’m really looking forward to seeing your Lens roses this year. I had some on order from them until it turned out the main star, GdeF standard, was not feasible to send from them.Â
Rose de Rescht is meant to be shade tolerant although I think it’s the case with any shade-tolerant rose you don’t get as good a flush. I need to reduce my pot pets and have one space which would be under the shade of a fig tree for all but a couple of hours. Options are RdeR or Mme. Isaac Perriere. MIP I’m keeping as a shrub just now but it might want to climb up the fig, which I suspect OH would not be happy with!
Here’s the two contenders, MIP on the left and RdeR on the right, any thoughts welcome..
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I think it might have been RdeR i spotted as a big hedge on a walk yesterday and smelt beautiful, is it scented? Munstead wood and mme Antoine maari nearly open here, eee! Torn by the prince as well as Big swoony english roses in dark burgundy shades is pretty much my kryptonite
..very nice.. my Westerland not quite out yet.. Such a lovely day today, low 70's and no wind, which is unusual for The Fens..
.. some of these not quite there but I took them anyway.. 'The Country Parson'.. 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.. ..opening.. 'The Anniversary Rose' .. bit mottled.. ..opening.. 'Vanessa Bell'.. ..huge blooms now on 'Mme. Lauriol de Barny'.. 'Marie Nabonnand'... 'Erfurt'.. 'Desdemona'..
