Morning everyone ,Ā rain and thunderstorms expected here today so I just took quickly some pictures. charles emp iv
Julia ChildĀ walferdange. This is really an easy rose and heat resistant . Hottest spot in the garden.Ā
Regarding just not falling in love with it. It is here the case with pink cloud . Lovely blooms, the right climber for the spot. Partially shade , vibrant colour but just not that and my OH also is not in love, so it will be probably be shovel pruned in autumn and going to family or relatives to find a second home.. means I can look out for a new climber šš¬šĀ
That Lady of Shalott is really nice Ā with several .. h@JessicaS how tall is your eyesĀ for you? Seems way larger then 60-70 cm that they state on the website.
So much to catch up with, lovely early June Sunday morning treat.I hope the rain hasn't/doesn'tcause too much damage
Happy Anniversary @purplerallim , 40 is quite a milestone. I'd choose Desdemona, talking of roses that don't make yourheart sing LadyoS is just that for me although wonderful by most measures.
Your orange/red hulthemia is striking @newbie77 I could be tempted.
@Nollie I can't explain my Boscobel's lack of scent at all, over its last month of blooming it has experienced all weather conditions.Ā It is placed where it was last year right by the back door and the washing line because of its scent, given it isn't my favourite with its leggy canes and coral colour without scent it has to go.
@fiona-cooper I really hope you enjoy your lovely rose. Starting small may well lead to going large like for many of us, I'm excited for you , getting hooked is a delight.
Such a lovely rose that Odyssey, my first bloom had me so happy Jessica, this year it has been outstanding from a rewarding early start.
@wherearemysecateurs Boulede Neige looks just like a piped dollop of whipped cream, lovely
Thankyou @Tack and everyone else for the Anniversary wishes which is today. I have decided on Desdemona as its one I have had a hankering for, as I do like white roses. ( and all of your pictures make it look soooo good š) Now all I have to do is find a space for three roses, looks like the front lawn might just be loosing it's middle to a raised rose bed! š
Awful weather, I'm looking at the roses and thinking of all the deadheading I'm going to have to do very soon.
All lovely roses above..Ā Dames de Chen. looks rather nice..
@Rojas Yes 'Wild Rover' can be grown as a shrub, it's usually sold that way, it's upright and has thick stems, it's easy to manage as it's virtually thornless.. I have 2 .. it does blackspot a bit but seems to get better with age in this regard..
@Tack I was so delighted with ODC I made my husband come ourside and look when I spotted the first bloom Ā Your pots are stunning. What pot size are those again?
@Imprevu my eyes for you is next to another Hulthemia Angel eyes so theres 2 plants there and both huge, I think you could prune them more compactly, but both are absolutley prolific and we have good soil so I do let them go mad somewhat
Your Princess Sibillia is beautiful @murasaki, I didn't realise it was also Stormy Weather until I saw Nollie's post.
Gosh, thatĀ Dames de ChenonceauĀ is rather luxurious @Tack.Ā The pink goes really well with the grey pot too.
Your soggy day pictures are very impressive @Mr. Vine Eye, your garden is so nicely put together and colourful.Ā
I've done a bit of scheming today as the weather is none too warm.Ā Revised my wish list and made a planting/potting plan.
I have a first flower on the experimental Pheno Geno Draga although it is not quite open yet.Ā Thought I might miss it with the forthcoming rains and tedious working week ahead. It's a bit damaged/crispy/sunburnt but it's a nice colour so I get a good impression of how it would look.Ā It is fairly well scented with a more complex rosy smell than some of my roses have. And a whole bush shot to show its healthy body.Ā I planted it off centre due to its massive roots, it didn't grow like that.
The sweet Stephanie d'Ursel.Ā Flowers are large, up to 5".Ā I've messaged Lens again to see if they are peddling to the UK this year.Ā Will report back. I might call time on this one, Evelyn Fison.Ā This is its 3rd year.Ā First year was in the ground and it mithered so I potted it up in case needed its own space.Ā Second year I had it on a constant feeding plan and it picked up.Ā Third year it has acquired a new affliction, mildew, despite continuing the rescue plant regime.Ā Thinking maybe it is just a poor doer and I should stop trying.
Masquerade on the obelisk leaning awkwardly. Those who do not like orange roses can skip this one - Louis de Funes. New this year - first flower on Weg der Sinne. Grandiflora Queen Elizabeth standing tall.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
