..incidentally, I would lift those canes up and either tie them to the one at the back or insert a short cane and tie them to that..

The rose is against a west facing wall @Marlorena, so it gets full sun all afternoon and early evening.
I tried lifting those flowering stems but the pruned cane they are growing from is too stiff to allow me to lift it up.
Or maybe I'm being too gentle for fear of it breaking.
I think I need to start doubling the expected size of roses as well as geraniums......
I perhaps would have been better off planting it with the two stronger stems at each side, rather than front and back, but I expected more basals to emerge this year and nothing has.
    It's a learning curve I suppose.
Next time I order I'll request  'short and stumpy please,'  if it's for a pot!

    Many thanks for the replies.

I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong @Woodgreen they kind of have a mind of their own.

I'm inclined to think that is your answer really, no morning sun.  They will try and reach out for it if they don't get any..  a rose's top growth is geared towards the East and South..

    Maybe turn the pot around?..

@Omori, I could spend all day on that spot if I could. It is beautiful!

I can see what you mean @Marlorena, but how annoying. The DA info says it's ideal for shady areas (symbol shows half sun, half shade.)
I had a job putting the container in place empty, then getting it level, so I'll not be able to move it now it's full I'm afraid.
Next to it in a smaller pot is 'Marie Pavie'. This rose does present it's best side to the south west, but has not 'stretched' for the sun, and it's the same with 'Natalie Nypels' up to now.
I'll see how it goes this year, maybe next year too, but if it's going to be a problem I'll have to start looking round for a place in the sun for it, in the ground.
    Thanks again.

@newbie77 It will be interesting to see if you have any similar issues with 'Eustacia Vye' out of full sun. Your 'Rosebud Tommy' pelargonium is a lovely shade of dark red.

You have loads of choices @WhereAreMySecateurs but I’ll throw out one suggestion, Lady Hillingdon.
