Purple, congrats on a magnificent anniversary! And what an amazing friend. (I vote for the Lady of Shalott. No... I vote for telling your friend the two you want and letting her decide. Maybe she'll get you both.😈)
Boule de Neige is my favourite flower today. The rain and wind don't bother it at all!
Amazing gardens on here, very inspiring, and so varied.
@Tack I meant to say about your Boscobel losing fragrance.. Scent varies a lot according to atmospheric conditions here, generally heat brings out the fragrance more, but when it’s very hot and dry, it’s definitely weaker as the volatile scent compounds are not released and the wafters certainly don’t waft. Normally stronger in the mornings too as even in summer there is dew first thing in my mountain location, but that rapidly dries off. So heat, humidity and time of day you sniff are in the mix. Any of that apply?
My Heidi is potted so nutrient leaching (and I believe PH) also plays a part. I have just watered with the last of my precious rainwater and fed with added magnesium granules and sulfate of potash as an experiment. Will report back if that makes a difference..
For @owd potter, here is William Shakespeare 2000:
The Prince looking a tad small and crispy, it’s extremely hot and dry here:
First bloom on freebie Paul Neyron, but I’ve no room for yet another pink!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Can I indulge the group here for one final time on a rose ID please. It's a very delicate pink on white hue, which hopefully my phone pictures have managed to capture and is unscented
i planted Westerland last year and have just thought that adding Rhapsody in blue would be perfect! initially i had wanted to combine it with Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg, but i ended up planting it somewhere else. it is wonderful, and they would have been perfect together!
your GdF took my breath away! i finally spotted the pink too🙂 though not so intense as yours
Cornelia seems quite similar in this respect, i got the first blooms and i am already in love:
a surprise poppy has appeared in front of the newly planted Boscobel, i think the seed was hidden in the soil and when i dug, i brought it to the surface:
@Omori - yes, it was me. Thanks very much. I gave City of York to a friend in York. The scent sounds perfect. I am more excited about their rose than they are.
All the Ghislaine seem wonderful - a riot! I can't wait for mine to mature. I will plant one in the back in the autumn. I have a plan!
It feels odd to have fallen in love. With roses. I don't really understand it. Quite consuming.
