@Eustace - thank you. Iām a bit disappointed with Royal Jubilee - it started well and then all the growth stunted, similar to what happened to Lady of the Lake. It should have far more blooms than it does and it looks patchy. More like a second year rose than a fourth.
Hopefully itāll pick up later on.
I think Ghislaine de Feligonde is going to give a good show this year. Covered in buds and they all look set to open about the same time.
..^I wish my camera took pics like that... you've really captured the elements there..
@daisym .. so glad your rose is opening for you, I think things have got a bit delayed just lately, for many of us too..
@alexwildliferescue Heya... it's always best if you can get the wiring in place first as it's going to be awkward later, so hopefully you'll soon be able to sort that out.. meantime, all I would do perhaps, is insert a bamboo cane or some other support I might have, against the wall, inserting into the ground a little way if I could do that, and gently tie the shoot to it, being careful it doesn't snap off.Ā Ā Other members might have different ideas on this,Ā but it would offer a temporary solution.. but to be honest it's so young I probably wouldn't worry too much at this stage, it will send up shoots from below ground in due course, by which time you'll have the wiring in place.Ā
As for horizontal training, forget it, just let it go up... all will be well.Ā
At least we get to see you in the window... have fun..Ā
thank you very much for the advise. Il send a picture in if successful in a year or two.Ā
@owd potter hope you enjoyed your break despite missing some roses. William Shakespeare 2000 hasnāt done much so far, a late purchase but I have had a couple of decent blooms so far, nice fragrance too.
@Tack yes Heidi is definitely improved a bit this year, I havenāt had mildew but black spot yes. I do go hot ān cold on some roses, or vice versa:
Guy Savoy is a very easy to grow and eager to please rose:
Likewise Julia Child:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
