I too wanted to get Rose de Rescht, purely for the scent.. but had to put on hold as I have no space at all.. wish roses could be planted indoors :#

@edhelka that Plaisanterie sounded familiar and now I remembered why.. I was looking for scented alternatives of Mutabilis and ended up researching its offsprings... If I remember correctly even Josephs Coat is one of its offsprings...

Peter Beales roses have a 4 for 3 container rose offer using code 4for3, but offer includes a red climbing rose called 'Uetersen'.. which is one fabulous reddish/deep pink rose..
I'm not surprised they're offering this rose.  I took a photo of it late March when I was there, and no doubt it's grown a lot since then..

You clearly had some beautiful climbers along your old fence...would it not have been possible to dig them up as established plants, and then replant them later when the new fence was built. I'm only asking as I face a similar dilemma, not on your scale, but it will still be annoying.

.. I didn't have a lot of notice as it's not my fence, about 2 days, and it all happened in a hurry, also Covid had broken out and I wasn't in the mood for messing about then.. what you could do in a similar situation, is plunge the roots in buckets of water, you can root prune if you want, and they will be ok there for some time until you're ready..  even during the summer, although you will inevitably get some dieback..
