Yes indeed, but as soil levels may change when I sort the area out properly I'm a bit reluctant to plant the rose there yet.
But maybe it's better to get it into its permanent place and take the risk rather than give it another temporary home? Though it must be said, the veg beds are luxury accommodation!
But the rich deep soil of the veg bed will probably make digging the rose out even more difficult if I leave it there for another season. Maybe I should just go for it and transplant to its final spot. It's raining here, the first we've had for ages, so my planned job of shredding is on hold.Â
I'm going to prepare the spot, then dig up the rose. Things are a bit further behind here than in the south, but the recent very warm weather has brought a lot of growth on. Plenty of moisture still in the ground though. Who Dares Wins!
@MuseLea ..I see you've caught the rose bug... your Olivia Rose Austin has beautiful foliage doesn't it? I don't have it but I always admire the leaves on this rose.. You have made some excellent choices and what looks like nice sunny positions for them..  getting any more?  always room for another one..Â
@Marlorena I’m not sure my hubby would agree that there is room for another rose  He is in disbelief already that I’ve squeezed 10 into a plot that’s only 8m x 6m. I quite fancied Julia Child and pheno geno Natalija but I don’t think I’ve anywhere to put them really…..Â
I’m quite surprised just how much sun my borders get. I expected to be shade gardening in a small north facing plot towered over by a 3 storey house. I was pleasantly surprised last summer which led to the start of the rose obsessionÂ
Next on my hit list is deciding on a few clems. Is there a clematis thread this year? The only one I’m certain on is Etoille Violet as I’ve had it twice before and it always flowered it’s socks off. I’m going to let it romp along the fence. I need another for the other side of the arch that Mary Delaney is climbing.
@Mr. Vine Eye that’s a great idea using a water gun - I am going to get myself one and if somebody catches me rather having too much fun I shall declare it all in the name of aphid population control.Â
I’ve been so behind this year with feeding the roses and I have only just managed to train my Etoile de Hollande today.. I’ve also moved six roses to my new plot so I’ll keep you guys posted as to how they fare this year in the ground. Unfortunately I also found out after that the previous owner planted roses in the same patch.. I’ve used mycorrhizal fungi in the planting holes so I don’t think I could have done anything more with regards to mitigating the potential effects of rose replant disease..Â

They don't like being moved too often, best find somewhere permanent for this rose if you can, it's too good not to..Â
