..this is o/t for @Lizzie27 .. Lizzie, in case you decide to get these fence panels, I meant to add, don't forget you need the posts to join sections together.. the panels are 4 foot long and to join you need to insert these posts through the holes, they just push into the soil.. also need one for each of the end stops, so to speak..
An early, premature review of 'Elizabeth', one of the new roses from David Austin.
First flowers don't often wow me, but this one has, even though the scent is not what I hoped. I would say a light peachy fruity fragrance in the morning, very little in the afternoon.. These things change with age and time of day, but not in the top flight for scent so far.. ''a strong, sweet, fresh fragrance with hints of lemon sherbet and Old Rose''. I can't say I'm getting too much of that, so presumably it can only get better. I usually put a report on HMF, and I don't want to discredit what is a beautiful rose.. I would suggest a sister to 'Eustacia Vye' but without the scent to match..
..but with a bloom like this I'm not sure I care too much about that... great foliage too..
That is just lovely Marlorena. Compare that to the dingy colour the DA illustrates it with Just as misleading in the other direction as Bring Me Sunshine
@Tack ..I think those DA pics are just plain awful.. some of these nurseries, and it's not only DA really should go to more trouble with their photos.. we provide better ones than they do..
... as for 'Bring Me Sunshine' I am currently being wow'd by it, but I have to wait a bit and say something about it later, maybe tomoz..
Well @WhereAreMySecateurs it is an inherited one, and I did get it verified on here a few years ago, but since moving it it has become much more frilly with larger blooms, so has changed its habits.
@peteS So lovely and delicate, your Lady of the Lake! i have long wanted to find out more about this rambler. Is it really flowering all year long? I didn't see the scent described as strong, but you say it wafts in the garden? That would be a big bonus for me. How big does it get? And how thorny?
@edhelka I am curious about Crepuscule, I heard the blooms don't last long, either in sun or in rain. Do you have to clean them yourself after they fade? How does it perform for you?
A general question, for anyone who can help: what ramblers begin to flower early? i like those categories : early, mid, late season flowering, that one gets for tulips or peonies😅
i am trying to draw up a list for autumn ordering, and i think early flowering should be a criterion for me, when it comes to ramblers. If they start flowering late, then the terrible summer heat would hit them hard and i won't be able to enjoy that huge and long once-flowering show i have been admiring on photos! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

P.S. My Desdemona has arrived this afternoon 😁
And very grainy sunrise taken with my phone but I like the colours.
