Ive had to blast with fungus clear in the past (NOT the combi one that kills bugs!) You can get organic ones, that seems to help. I think some roses are just prone and (Nollie?) Is right, weather is a big factor.
No sawflies yet, I hate the flippin things! The avian cavalry ate most of mine last year thankfully. Wish theyd eat the slugs munching my dahlias! Heres my stunning new clem, 'super cute' planted on the tree for my beautiful young hound that we tragically lost earlier in the year. She loved sniffing flowers but so gently, she never damaged anything! Planting a four season range of blooms round her cherry so she will always be amidst the flowers Sheilas perfume Bonkers
It just goes to show that you should never give up on a rose. I inherited an Arthur Bell that had been in a bed for at least five years. It had full sun, and wasn't crowded too much, but never looked happy. I moved it 2018 to the front garden. Near a wall, only sun in the morning, and had grass at its feet ( only a foot wide bed) The inset picture is before, and the big one is today . It's not looking it's best after two days of torrential rain and strong winds, but the growth is amazing. Also my new this year pair of Twice in a Blue Moon have flowered. A bit spindly ,but both have produced. The open bloom is a bit damaged by the rain, and the colour of the bud is a bit pinker in the photo than in real life, but I'm pleased for their 1st year.
'Lady of the Lake' looking lovely. I particularly like the range of pinks she throws out, from deep pink when the buds are newly open, then fading to a blush pink as they age. Beautiful scent also, which wafts on a warm still day. Absolutely beautiful.
Is that definitely Arthur Bell, purple? Looks nothing like mine... yours is much paler and frillier and more to a cluster. An age difference? Mine is also on a north-facing wall and very happy there.
Sympathies with those dealing with pests. It's plague of the lily beetles here. I love my lilies and am not best pleased. (Very very stupid lily beetles at that, for these are rose cuttings.)
I love yellow roses, they brighten the place up with sparkle.. I think if I wanted a rambler, Lady of the Lake would be high on my list..
.. early morning photo, blurry and bleary eyed.. 'Ghislaine de Feligonde' / 'Lilac Bouquet'. Parahebe 'Avalanche' at their feet.. 'Tall Story' it's taken me a while to like this rose, but I'm there now, I love this very much.. reminds me of the hybrid musk rose 'Penelope'. 'Queen of Denmark'.. somewhat weather beaten.. 'Angela'.. I rather like these pink crab apple type flowers.. very healthy rose so far.. a light musky scent too.. my 'Armada' / 'Niobe' obelisk, from various angles depending whether I want to see the rose or clematis..
