Thanks very much for the reassurance about the little ladybird larvae upthread, Marlorena and Tack. An amazing illustration, Tack. I never thought larvae could look so cute.
@murasaki, Marlorena is of course right, first blooms aren’t always typical but those on my AB weren’t first blooms and it is in a location that only gets morning sun, so I thought it would be ok. Alas! No matter how much you research and think you have bought the right rose, sometimes you just don’t know how it’s going to behave in your climate until you try it.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Odelia has rain resistant clusters which stay on the plant for a long time.. only downside would be the edges getting fried in full sun..
Strawberry Hill.. like the cup shape with more apricot pink inside and a strong fragrance..
Jubilee celebration.. every bloom is beautiful in their form and colour (yellow/ apricot undertones) with a fruity fragrance.. but it flops badly...
Elizabeth.. Love this form better.. that proliferation in the middle is noticed in more than one flower.. surprisingly not fragrant for a rose which is supposed to have s strong scent..
I just found one of these beetles too, munching on my 'Scented Garden'. I believe it is garden chaffer (phyllopertha horticola) and as long as the roses aren't crawling with them, I am willing to tolerate them. Here, the little fella is eating a flower that's past its best anyway.
Other than that, there's a lot of weather damage, so just some quick progress and general photos.
'Narrow Water' is very vigorous. Very. The rose bed has mostly late bloomers, so not much happening there yet. 'Amanda Patternote' flowering and 'Scarborough Fair' just starting. 'Kiss me Kate' looks like it will do something this year. The same can be said for 'The Prince'. Two new basals! Parahebe and 'Lavender Dream' 'Belle de Crecy' starting, 'Jaqueline Humery' and 'Eyes for You' behind.
Remember this? It is now this... ...and will go here, once I relocate the Hakonechloa, to grow up and fill in pergola from the opposite post, Thanks @Marlorena, I would have thrown that piece away but for your comment.Â
@Marlorena, I wonder if you could let me know where you purchased your metal fences from please. I need to prop up my very vigorous 'Penvelope' which tends to flop forward from the wall when heavy with blooms. There is heavy duty wooden trellis fixed to the wall but the rose is so heavy, it was pulling the trellis away!
Many thanks, I have looked online but can't anything that looks as good as yours.
Woah, that is a big un Omori and it seems can manage the rain. But if Bring Me Sunshine stays yellow I really don't need another. Your Albertine is spectacular, what is it growing on? If I let one sprawl over the border how do I trim the supporting shrubs and clear ivy I wonder.
You have lovely, well chosen plants Edhelka. I was musing earlier about a TCL order and then just thought, nah I'll wait to see what Edhelka chooses.
I did throw a couple of oddities in last year just for fun. This is one just flowering
Ruby Mella
Random selection, Bathsheba, Alexander (a bit dull close to bit great visibility in the border), Jingle Bells with a gorgeous scent and New Zealand ditto.Ebb Tide, lovely new-to-me Olivia RA; thank you those that recommended it, Timeless Purple and Grafin Diana

Lol. I am honoured. But I am not sure if I am going to order anything from TCL this year. At the moment, I am trying to enjoy what I have, don't feel that drive to fill every available space (+ a ton of pots) with roses.
I am still waiting for this year's newbies to flower. 'Faustinia' is close.
