Thanks for starting the new thread @Mr Vine Eye and welcome all newbies.
Been out in the garden nearly all day, it's been glorious. Think my 'Blue for You' is racing ahead and likely to be the first to bloom but the others are catching up fast. I've fed and manured them all and can't wait to see my new ones in bloom, Nathalie Nypels x 2 in pots - looking good as well and Chandos Beauty HT in the ground, a bit pathetic at the moment. All four canes had been hard pruned down to 3 " when I received it from TW but the root system was good so fingers crossed.
I stuck two prunings into the ground last year and they seem to have taken. Do I remember rightly that I should now dig them up and pot them on, or is it too late now?
@Marlorena Thanks for that Marlorena. I will give pegging a go and look forward to the outcome. A similar thing has happened to my 'Charles de Mills', throwing up long whippy stems, would pegging work there as well.
^oh gosh, thanks so much..Ā I look forward to seeing those obelisks with roses..
@pandakoalagirl49lS9c8QR_ I've just noticed your other question... Fragrant Rose Co. are the same as Style Roses of Lincolnshire, just trading under a different name. Many of us here use this rose nursery and I don't think any of us have been disappointed.. they provide top quality roses..Ā order with confidence..
Thank you! I love Style Roses, they're quality. So, on the back of that info, I just placed a slightly too large order from Fragrant Roses, including some DAs I had been wanting and my first ever standard rose. Very excited indeed!
Whoop!š Thanks for starting the new thread @Mr. Vine Eye
I've been away this week and now everything seems to be springing forward in a satisfactory way. Also had 125 posts to catch up on the old thread and still need to catch up on Rose a Dayš
Noticed buds already on my red shrub Fountain although most of my roses aren't as far ahead as some on here. Ā Fountain has been doing much better since I removed a nearby crab apple, even though it was planted on the sunny side. I loved the crab apple but there was so much shade in the garden anyway with fences and neighbour's trees.Ā
Fed the roses and rest of garden today so it stinks a bit. Thanks for the tip-off about Vitex Azalea. I had a voucher so bought some online. Also defoliated a couple of my Lens roses, 3 held on to their leaves but Walferdange seemed to sort itself out, well it looks fine anyway.
A not oft seen pic of the end of the garden. 6 new roses up here, not that you can see them, oranges, pinks and purples for the most part.
Ā Gold Disc daff with Flanders. Just noticed a forget-me-not in a planting space while a potentilla is crammed at the base of my daffs, will have to put that on my list.
Gave the lawn a basic mow this weekend although I note the slabs and edge are a bit wonky. I'm going to try and smash that washing line pole out the ground when I'm off work at the end of the month and I've had an idea of what to replace it withš
I like the green pots with daffodils at the end of the bridge @Victoria Sponge.
Iāve been installing the wires for the climbing roses and Iāve tied them in. Bajazzo and Golden Gate. Gabriel Oak is next to the metal hook. Lovely spring day.

Iāve planted it at the back near the fence to help support it and if I need to I can add some wires behindĀ
..oh I'm so sorry, I'm always getting it wrong.. .
..yes I've just noticed the fence, you'll be ok with that then..Ā
yes I hope so, Iāll see how it gets on this year!

..that's lovely, looking forward to those.. they're not far from me, although I don't know them personally..
@peteS
No, not necessary with that one, it does it itself..
