@Marlorena Thank you for the kind words and You really are the inspiration. Your Mme. Lauriol de Barny rose is gorgeous, love the large flowers in a beautiful glowing pink shade! The way that you have trained is simply fabulous! I am more inclining towards Wild Rover now:-)
@pitter-patterYour Harlow Carr standard is just spot on and looking stunning! Mine is floppy on the ground. And your Ebb Tide is Wow! I am definitely getting it next year!
@Omori Beautiful Gentle Hermione. Unfortunately the scent will give me a headache!
@Tack You definitely adding some magic in to those flower pots. They all are filled with lots & lots of lovely roses and so graceful to look at :-)Â
I've found that the first blooms of the roses in general are big, lovely shape & colour and fragranced. Is that so?
Young Lycidas - first bloom is purplish, large and has wonderful fragrance
Pretty Jessica - First bloom, Petal packed and lovely fragrance.
Crown Princess Margareta First bloom, I like the fragranceÂ
'Autumn Damask'.. ['Quatre Saisons'].. 'Tall Story'.. 'Lucky'.. 'Commandant Beaurepaire'.. Zugenie might be interested to know that her lovely 'Ferdinand Pichard' is likely an offspring, or closely related, to this rose.. I wasn't going to post any more of 'Mme. Lauriol de Barny' but she's still looking good after all the recent rain, hail and gales.. [minus 'Kew Gardens' which sadly is no more].. .. I still have 'Sally Holmes' which is more than a decent replacement..
Please could anyone help. This is a David Austin danse du feu I have. I plan on growing it up and around the doorway using training wires etc. I have two questions though. First one the vines are naturally going toward the light so coming away from the wall. How can I direct the canes toward the wall or should I just wait until they get bigger and then attach them to the wire before the canes harden up? The second question- I would like to cover a large part of the doorway but I know you should train canes horizontally to aid flowering but as you can see I have not got a great deal of space. Would I still get a good show growing vertically or should I try to grow horizontally ?Â
At long last, one of my six roses is opening up! A Whiter Shade of Pale opened up this morning. The photo looks pinker than the rose actually is, though it is pinker than I was expecting. Hoping for the beautiful scent this rose had last year.
