Last few hot days have pushed all the early summer flowers over the edge. Everything starting to look tired and very much in need of some attention and deadheading. Rain would be nice too!
Ive been so busy this week with a school concert that I’ve not really had chance to look at the garden until today. Such a huge difference from the weekend! All the flowers gone over on Ghislaine. The Generous Gardener is looking best because it always starts later.
Probably not going to get much chance for a little while to really tend to the garden unfortunately. From one big job at work to the next at the moment

Same here — on the plus side, the star jasmine is loving it
good to be back with my roses.. advantage of visiting my garden after a break is that I can appreciate the changes that are happening.. lot of deadheading to do..
Good selection of old and new roses @Victoria Sponge and thanks for the info on Draga.. @Fire does your red roses crisp badly under full sun..?
@pitter-patter that Chandos Beauty standard would be very fragrant..Â
Rambling Rosie seems to be one of the only roses that bees are really interested in. I do have other single and semi-double roses, but none of them seem to attract bees so much.
@Omori and others with BMS, what David Austin said makes perfect sense to me, buds and subsequent blooms are much paler in hotter weather. My first blooms on new Souvenir de Marcel Proust, opening during hot weather, were pale lemon, After a break and four or five days of temperatures a good 5c lower than before, this one currently opening is a stronger yellow:
@Marlorena has clearly done her usual rose voodoo and got the better colour before anyone else!
Same with established Lady Emma Hamilton currently emerging from hibernation - very shy, small blooms but now looking a more typical (for here) colour:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

I've tied it in as it was a bit floppy so not sure if that automatically indicates a climber?
