@chicky In November, I start watching the first Spring episodes again on iPlayer. I also watch Carol Klein Seasons Winter and Spring from 2011. It's like a check up if I'm prepared for next year :-)
Frankly, I think standing against a tree with your eyes closed is a really fantastic experience. You can focus on sounds, on smells, on the sensations of the breezes blowing round you. You stop nattering on about nothing in particular and breathe deeply and just FEEL. Marvellous.
The clips of the Winter shows didn't look very wintery, while I guess we want cheering up at that time with colour, it would also be nice to see gardens in Winter. I wasn't overly keen on the arboretum stuff either tbh! @gjautos lots of postage stamp sized gardens is probably quite representative of people in the UK these days, gone are the days of people being able to afford a big house, let alone a big garden. I love my postage stamp garden and can't imagine I'll ever get bigger (though even the stamps are growing next year with their new barcodes!).
Christmas shows are usually filmed in the summer - so they have time to prep them for Christmas. You have to pretend not to notice the full leaf and everyone sweltering.
I was in two minds about the arboretum piece. I understand the thinking behind it, and l must admit as someone who would be primarily dazzled by the colours, l welcomed the idea of thinking a bit more deeply about the experience. At the same time, a part of me was thinking that l'd prefer a bit more practical advice on the last show of the series, and that item might have been more fitting for one of the specials. As always, it's a fine balance. Lovely to see and hear Geoff Hamilton again, but as mentioned above l noticed they skipped over the Toby Buckland period.
I agree @chicky, it's always sad at the end of the series. I did enjoy Monty's "Review of the Year" though. All part of the great gardening experience. My OH is convinced that next year will be a total washout !

I wasn't trying to criticise the size of garden as such. I just find it boring when all the viewers garden look the same. Small beds around a small piece of grass. Last night's for example, spent all his time telling us how glorious it all was, but didn't once say this is a 'insert plant name' i grow it because.... Gardeners world seems to get less and less about gardening. I'm certainly no expert, but I can't remember the last time I learnt something new whilst watching. And I'm not trying to be overly critical, I like Monty and Carol. Though I do wish Frances and Adam were on more.

I agree @gjautos. It wouldn't be quite so bad if we didn't then have to listen to Monty's unnecessary, and often slightly patronising, comment on each one.
It's great that people are enjoying their gardens of whatever size and with whatever level of expertise but can we not just take that as read without showing it on prime-time telly. Much of the stuff I've seen on YouTube would be of far more interest if they could come to some agreement about showing snippets in the programme.
.... Reaches for hard hat ....

I ♥ my garden.
