The Doctor left me puzzled - what are budderflies? ;)

  • As usual we had the obligatory celebration and a comment about mental health. They are getting to be cliches.

Gardening is good for the soul not so for arthritic joints!

I liked the thyme lawn but it wouldn't work for me and my heavy clay.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.

I was glad to hear the Doctor talk about "Green prescribing", although it must be difficult to carry that out in the depths of Winter. Much better than sending patients away with packs of pills, although l appreciate that it wouldn't work for everyone.

Mental health is equally as important as physical health as far as l'm concerned.
I consider myself to be a fairly "glass half full" person , but in recent years with Covid and a very stressful family situation l have really struggled at times. It has made me more aware of the whole "Mental health" thing.
Thank god for my garden :)

The trouble for me with this particular Dr is he is the idiot who said we shouldn't go to  our Allotments during covid. Apparently it was dangerous because we all share tools and spend all day sitting in each others sheds etc.  It struck me at the time he'd probably never been near an Allotment,  didn't realise we were not just 2m appart,  more like 10m , we all have our own tools, and the simple act of wearing gloves to open the main gate (something I still do) meant we were not in contact with anyone.
I honestly think I  would have gone stir crazy without my plot,  even though we have the garden.

Must admit that I didn't realise that he was a GP "off the telly" @Allotment Boy .
I have looked him up and found this on the GW website where he said it was OK to visit the allotment, but l haven't gone into great depth so he could have changed his mind.

I did think his presentation skills were pretty good, so that explains it !

    Totally disagree

Comment on mental health, from a doctor, can only be a good thing, and as a doctor who has suffered from such problems and been helped by gardening, I think it is great.
But every week? The needle is stuck, which is irritating.
