I'm afraid I'm in the disliking Carol Klein camp too, because I can't cope with her voice. It triggers all sorts of things with my brain and I have to turn the sound off. I have no problem with her undoubted knowledge, but her voice grates. I watched yesterday but with the subtitles
I woudn't say I dislike her..but I sort of know where your coming from. Again, purely my own view but I'd also like to see Christine Walkden & Bob Flowerdew feature more on GW. I often wonder why panellists on GQT don't appear very often (if at all) on GW ..and vice versa.
Funny how the voice can really grate. I didn't like Carol's over exuberance in the early days but feel both her presentation and voice have softened over the years. It's the Liverpool accent, particularly the broad Scouse, that I can't bear. I simply cannot listen to it. I hadn't thought about using subtitles to get round the problem.
I like to hear Carol's accent, and Christine Walkden's. It's nice to hear a variety of local accents on the telly, particularly north of England which seem to be woefully underrepresented (but maybe I'm biased ). I seem remember there being quite a fuss when Steph McGovern started doing the financial section on BBC breakfast.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
I'm sure that Carol Klein is a nice person and her knowledge of plants etc is enviable. I've fast forwarded her for years so when I watched the latest programme over the weekend I didn't. My opinion still hasn't changed, I can't stand the mini giggles and OTT commentary.
It's not accents that are a problem for me, it's just certain voices trigger a reaction. The joys of being on the spectrum. My younger daughter is the same
I'm afraid I can't stand Christine Walkden - in any way shape or form.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I actually find Carol easier to understand than other presenters. Especially when she gives the botanical name, I can jot down what she says accurately, whereas with Monty I sometimes have to rewind three times and I still don't get what he said.
accent, exhuberance, giggles or otherwise. I've never heard Carol say anything which is factually inaccurate, unlike other presenters who confuse their opinions and preferences with facts.
Granted, she knows her stuff, but that voice is just too much. I watched that programme she did from a hot air balloon, which was good, but I had to have the subtitles.
I like Carol, she is over enthusiastic, but no harm in that. Bob Flowerdew would be good too for an alternative take on things.

Gardener and beekeeper in beautiful Scottish Borders

I don't mind any of the presenters - all are better than Alan Titmarsh. I just couldn't get around his smugness and he is far too much of a neat and tidy gardener for me.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.
