I was surprised yesterday to see Monty talking about fruit trees in full blossom and tulips in full flower. My crab apple finished flowering a few weeks ago and my tulips are well past their prime. I suppose it just confirms what many of us have said in the past - it's not possible to generalise about the 'right time' to do anything in the garden. Longmeadow is only about 40 miles from where I live.
He posts things on FB long before they appear on GW, and his FB pics show normal late May gardens, so I assume it was filmed some time ago? Then again, one of my friends has some late-blooming varieties of tulips out now.
I was surprised to see Monty using those teabag things to sow zinnias. He said they were biodegradable. The ones that commercial growers use don't seem to be, at least not before they've strangled the roots.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

As it was the opening sequence to the programme I would expect it to reflect the current situation. If it was filmed some time ago that should have been made clear, otherwise it's a bit like the 'Jobs for the Weekend' being relevant to October!
Well he has been away for a couple of weeks, so that could be why it seemed more of date? I imagine, due to editing, post production etc., that there is always some delay between filming and broadcasting, but would be helpful to say in the opening credits ‘filmed on X date’ so people don’t expect their tulips to still be in flower.
There are occasionally some real gems amongst the viewer’s gardens but most offer scant inspiration or educational value even for total newbies, more ‘look, mum, I’m on the telly and here’s a plant I grew’ kind of thing.
For someone who dislikes tropical gardens, I loved the tropical garden! He was really interesting and accessible, talking about how easy it was and doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg etc.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I think the viewers' gardens segments are encouraging for new growers - showing that normal, non-experts can grow peonies, tomatoes, tulips... whatever it is. My garden group spend a lot of time feel demoralised with their efforts - like gardening is some kind of archane magic or it's only the business of retired wizards. A lot of genuinely people feel that growing well is a function of "green thumbs" or similar witchcraft, not possible for them. They feel cursed.
I loved to see the small child getting excited about mulch. All power to her elbow! 💪🏽

More jungles, less veg.
