  • Morning all,

Another busy day yesterday, but much more manageable, thankfully. Organising for a coach party now for tomorrow, they are coming from Normandy (not just to see me I'm sure), also have a table of 16 bookedin for Breakfast on Sunday and a 20 for Afternoon Tea the Sunday after. We don't usually get such big numbers, but seems we are on the 'coach party' list now. At least they book in advance and we know what thy're having. :)

Lovely photo @chicky, I so want to go there.

Good luck for the negative test @Hostafan1

Pleased to hear you met up with grandchildren @Ergates and felt comfortable with the journey.

My friends and I have agreed to postpone ourholiday until October - yet again, but too risky with the strict rules in place at Corfu.

Anyway, must dash. Have a good day all. :)

Good morning @D0rdogne_Damsel and everyone 😊 ☕️ glad yesterday was more manageable DD.
    Fingers crossed 🤞 @Hostafan1
OH is back to work today and I have stuff to do in the studio … must be careful not to get entangled with all the seed trays etc that are in there now … 😜

    Morning all.

I hope you are feeling OK this morning @Lizzie27. I hope your sister and partner have it mildly. Did they manage to drive home safely if they weren't well? Shame about the cream tea.

I have a dwarf lilac, Josée, to plant and after lunch I'm going to the SM. Need bread, butter, milk, coffee.

Forecast for Dordogne is snow on Friday. That's the day my car is going to the garage for a service and to have it's winter tyres changed for summer ones!

So the forthcoming cold snap is your fault @Busy-Lizzie;)

I've been washing up after starting today's bread, and can confirm that the nest on the terrace belongs to a pair of robins ... they're back and forth to the nest this morning ... can they have hatched their eggs already?! There's also a pair of bluetits all over the honeysuckle collecting aphids ... can they have hatched their eggs too,
or maybe the adults are just taking lots of energy on board in order to produce and rear their family ... I hope the forthcoming coldsnap doesn't wipe out the aphids ... I bet you never thought you'd hear a gardener say that!!! Last year's prolonged spell of late frosts was so damaging to the bluetits.

As I said, the bread is proving ... now I have a batch of butternut squash and red pepper soup to make for OH's lunches, and I'll make a quiche case for tomorrow's supper ... I can pop it into the oven to bake blind when the bread comes out.

Then it's into the studio ......

Morning everyone,  well your nest news gives me some hope, @Dovefromabove. We have an old wooden box that has only been used once in a decade. This winter I "invested" in some shweggler ones, one open fronted and two suitable for blue tits. No signs of interest so far.

Morning all. I will be taking it easy today having indulged in a major act of self-harm and bloodletting yesterday - took down an out of control holly hedge with monster brambles threaded through it. My arms are well scratched by brambles and I am covered in pinprick holes from the holly. Thankfully nothing is looking infected this morning but I will keep out of the dirt for a few days just in case.

Lots of veg planting going on, used a large bulb auger on my power drill to get the spuds in, very quick way to do it if a bit silly. Rapidly running out of window sill germination room as it is still too cold for the greenhouse to take over.

    Good morning all.
    Back from The Home.
Hubby is pretty frail, very sleepy and has a hideous cough.
On a plus note. I left home at 6.20 this morning the birds were singing so loudly I said, out loud " good morning birdies " Made me feel better.
Thanks again for your kindness and warm wishes.
