@Rubee 😊 We loved gathering a small bucket full of winkles and taking them back to granny … she’d boil them and we’d have them with bread and butter for tea. 😋 I think a lot of us are still hunter-gatherers at heart 😊

Yes thank you @Ladybird4 and @Rubee feeling much better today. There's still a slight mist here but it's disappearing slowly. The sun is shining and the birds are singing their little heads off. Looks like I might be able to put some wet cloth things outside. The journey to your brothers sounds so pretty LB.
Yes thank you @Songbird-1 feeling much better. Hope the window men have been and sorted out cracked window. What a beautiful sunny day today, I've been out in the garden for a couple of hours weeding and also sorting and tidying the shed. Wet cloth things are dry, now having a cup of tea ☕ Hope you've all had a good day and the weather has been kind to you all.
It's been a gorgeous spring day here - ideal for getting on with lots of gardening jobs - unfortunately I've been sorting out m/home 'stuff'. There's a lot of it but it's all now either repurposed, packed away or a few bits have gone in the recycling. Good to have the dining room and snug back to their usual tidy selves!
If the weather is nice tomorrow I'm determined to have a couple of hours outside.
Glad you got your window etc sorted Hazel. One of our new windows was cracked when they unpacked it and another had a chip in the glass which soon developed into a crack. All replaced now but poor quality control at the factory.
Hope your sis and BIL have a great holiday LB - they'll be glad so many restrictions have now been lifted. We're contemplating Germany again in a few weeks time although I think they might still want locator forms / medical grade masks etc. Wish everybody was doing the same - it's all a tad confusing at the moment.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
It was a hard week, and I'm sorry not to be here a lot last few days. I have a few peaceful moment just for myself with hot cup of tea and apple cake. It's warm outside, but with very high wind. The walk this morning and afternoon wasn't too pleasant. Pets food delivery came with one day delay, but it's all here now. Tomorrow morning I must go to nearby town to buy some stuff for veggie growing and at sunday must drieve my mother to visit father at spa. As you can see, I'll have packed schedule few more days.
Sorry you've had a hard week @Ante30, I hope next week will be better.
I'm a lot better, thank you, don't feel sick any more and tummy doesn't hurt, but I'm glad I didn't take my sick computer to the shop this afternoon as I needed the loo in a hurry!
Luckily, I was OK this morning as on the way home I passed the wonderful plant nursery and bought 14 good sized perennials for 3.8 euros each and a semi dwarf lilac for 9.8€.
Then I went to Leclerc for the weekly shop and they were having a plant sale. I bought a rose, Arthur Bell, for only 6€. First time I've seen that rose for sale in France.
It's good to be back in my house, would be even better if OH were here. Adam was cute but could be very stubborn and he's big for his age, 3, and I'm not as strong as I was.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Busy . Sorry to read that you have been under the weather .You have a good haul there from the garden centre .I have Arthur Bell ,a lovely rose .Have a rest now , you have been very busy .
@Busy-Lizzie so sorry you're still feeling poorly, hope you feel better soon. That's a lovely lot of plants you bought today. Lovely rose 🌹 Hope you get a goodnights sleep, nothing like your own bed. @Ante30 hope you get a good nights sleep too. Hope your father is doing well in the Spa. Safe journey tomorrow.
Evening all. Gosh Hazel, that was a rude awakening for you this morning. Lets hope that the construction work progresses more quietly.
T'Bird, once the mist cleared it has been splendid here today and I've enjoyed being outside. My green bin is nearly full. I planted the rhubarb I got from Bestie and I was able to pull enough for a crumble from my own plant. I managed to spread my pelleted chicken manure everywhere too.
Ante, you can switch off the school work for a while but I'm sure that the weekend brings hard work of a different kind for you. Enjoy planning your veggie growing and I hope that the drive to the spa goes well. I guess only your Mother will be allowed in?
Busy, its good to hear that you are recovering from your stomach upset - there is nothing worse is there? You certainly went a bit wild buying all of those plants. Bet we all know what you will be doing tomorrow. Your baby sitting week seems to have flown by.
Ruby, I'll have to look Arthur Bell up. Its not a rose I know.
I had a good laugh with Jack on the phone today. He had asked me to look up two telephone numbers for him. Whilst I'm reeling off the numbers he kept mixing up the 9's with 5's and he didn't seem to understand 'zero' at all. I was beginning to get more than concerned. He kept saying that the phone line was bad - though at my end it seemed perfect. All of a sudden I heard this laughter and for a couple of minutes I could get no sense out of Jack at all. Eventually he managed to explain. The reason he was having so much difficulty hearing me was because he was holding the hand set upside down! He was still laughing when we hung up.
