Yes, that's it, thanks @BenCotto. Not sure if they still exist?

Two coasters will do the trick @Ergates, one to put the mug on and one to cover the top, no need to buy a new mug or set!

I’ve been refilling a disposable water bottle, but really wanted something I could clean out properly. I used to have just a glass of water until the night I found a large spider had sadly drowned itself in it.
Maybe you could just get a ladder spoon instead.

  • I've got 2 mugs with coasters that fit on the top to keep the bugs out. Unfortunately neither have anything on the bottom to show where they came from. I probably found them in a charity shop.   Seek and you will find!

I have a Simon Drew bug proof gardener mug with a lid/coaster, like this:

I'm the kind of person who would just use a jam jar but hillbilly chic is in fashion now so you can buy posh jam jars instead https://www.boobalou.co.uk/ecojarz-classic-silicone-drinking-jar-lid.html

Wow, some great ideas! I’ve had mugs with matching lids in the past, but haven’t seen any in the shops recently. I thought of coasters as lids, but the ones I have, have cork bases which would get damp with condensation. I’ll check what lids I have in the kitchen, might find something there. I’ve got lots of glass tumblers.

💡 Use the coasters upside down 😉
