For the past month or more I have received several e-mails every day supposedly from McAffee warning me that my cover is ending and I will have no virus protection. The warnings, although somewhat excessive, might be appreciated but for one fact. That being that I have never used McAfee AV products.
Does country of manufacture mean anything? The news is that the drone attack that killed the American soldiers was allegedly made in Iran.
The actual news is that anti-drone defences made in America failed to protect their soldiers. There have been about 150 drones aimed at US bases apparently but only a couple have got through and only this one has caused deaths. Hostile dictators want Trump back in power so no doubt efforts will be made this year on all fronts to stir up trouble for Biden.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
If you’re launching/receiving back drones or aircraft my understanding is that your anti-aircraft/drone defences have to be down for a short period. Someone who knows about such things says that when that happens, an enemy drone can ‘latch on’ to one of your returning aircraft and make it through your defences … he supposed this is what has happened recently.

I wanted a ceramic mug or similar with a lid, to keep water on my bedside table for my very early morning tablet taking. Finally found one last week, pretty colour and ok for the dishwasher. As I took off the paper sticker on the bottom, I found a very small hole in the ceramic, but put it in the dishwasher anyway. When I got it out, I sat it on some kitchen roll to ensure it was dry. Turns out that it must be hollow, I can hear liquid sploshing around inside when I shake it, and it’s still leaking a week later. Really annoyed. I’ll have to take it back, and carry on looking for an alternative. Tiresome.
I use a re-useable water bottle. I used to just have a glass of water by my bed until I caught our old cat helping himself from it! I also knocked the glass over a time or two, so the bottle is less messy.

I’ve been refilling a disposable water bottle, but really wanted something I could clean out properly. I used to have just a glass of water until the night I found a large spider had sadly drowned itself in it. Thankfully, I’d put the light on before taking a swig! I suppose what I really need is just a lid of some kind. I once had a really pretty glass set, a flask with a tumbler as a lid, but it eventually got knocked over.
I have a set of shower cap type efforts in mixed sizes for covering bowls There's a very small one that might do the job or lids off supermarket deli stuff or Pringles ( yuk) might do the job.
@Ergates, there’s a big choice if you choose carafe and glass sets if glass rather than ceramic is acceptable to you. I would start with design studios such as LSA or Orrefors but their premium products probably won’t take kindly to being put in the dishwasher.
My favourite glassware of the moment is Ichendorf, sold through Sous Chef, but it is delicate and needs to be handled carefully. Much more robust are vintage pichets from Ricard or Pernod but these rustic carafes do not come with lids. As an alternative look for vintage glass Ricard pichets - I stress vintage, modern ones are not a patch on those that are 40+ years old. If you have no luck on the UK eBay site, try the French one though a single search will probably offer results from both. Use the search term ‘Ricard, Pernod, pichet, carafe, water jug’
@Ergates We have glass jug/glass sets in our guest bedroom (the glass fits into the neck of the jug as a lid) which I think I bought some 10 or more years ago from either Lakeland Plastics or a shop in Stow in the Wold which did mail order (sorry, can't remember the name offhand). They are dishwasher proof and very suitable with a wide base for a bedside table.
