Another week of refuse non collection. Telephone call No 4 in line for the council tomorrow. Someone dumped several black sacks of rubbish at the end of our lane which were ignored by the collection last week. My neighbour managed to get them into her wheelie bin this week so they have disappeared. My dentist left me a message expressing their concern that I had missed my appointment and asked me to phone for another date. No point in phoning, no one ever picks up the phone. Calls are redirected to an automated answer system When you leave your name, number, and a message no one calls back. Then I was sent an e-mail asking me to phone them, no point, or make a booking online. When I went into their system there were no appointments available.
I have sympathy @Joyce Goldenlily I spent two hours trying to get through to my new doctor yesterday, to make an appointment. My previous GP used to give me antibiotics the moment I had a hint of a chest infection, to shorten the recovery period, and avoid complications with my epilepsy.
When I finally got through, the receptionist told me that as a new patient, the doctor would need to see me first. Fair enough!
So could I make an appointment? Nope!! All appointments for the day were booked. Being told that I should have rung two hours earlier wasn't any help.
Of course, if it was an emergency, I could go to the "local" hospital. She didn't think a chest infection would be considered an emergency. She suggested ringing again on Monday (closed at weekends).
Has football violence returned? It has always amazed me how abusive some fans are - you see the close up shots of the so called fans hurling vile abuse at the opposition players. Me and my son were only talking about that during the game today - then it all erupted into physical violence. Madness. But, I still think that until they curb the abuse by players to officials on the pitch then they're putting out the wrong message to the next generation of young fans.
I commented to my OH about the behaviour of the West Brom fans when the Wolves player was taking a corner (making gestures, hurling abuse, throwing objects). The majority of them were of an age to know better, to put it mildly. The fact the crowd is so close to the pitch at The Hawthorns really emphasised it.
(This is not to suggest that every Wolves supporter was behaving like a saint by any means). The poor children caught up in it. I saw the one youngster being taken on to the pitch.
There were grown men there who could have been his grandfather, let alone his father. What an example. I appreciate the emotions run high but there is no excuse.
My friend sometimes takes his disabled son to the match. Thankfully not this time. It's utterly pathetic that people can act that way over a game of football.
Or anything else @KT53. Where is their self control, sense of community, responsibility for their actions, tolerance for others with different tastes/teams/interests..............?

Does country of manufacture mean anything? The news is that the drone attack that killed the American soldiers was allegedly made in Iran. But aren't arms (and all other goods) traded around the globe? Wasn't it reported that N Korea was supplying Russia?
What does that all mean in this day and age? Is the country of origin of a weapon, responsible for its use? If that is the case, then doesn't that support Putin's view that 'the west' is involved in the 'special operation' in Ukraine? Presumably, any country with an arms industry, sells its weapons around the globe - https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-8310/ - and it forms part of an economy. What makes arms sales right or wrong then? Given the States' record on black ops and changes of affiliation over time, you can't just judge on who the arms were shipped/sold to can you?
