To be fair to those at the hospital, if somebody decides they want to leave there is little that can be done to stop them unless "you must be able to demonstrate evidence of an impairment or disturbance in the functioning of the mind or brain of the patient".  That isn't something which is easy to do.

If he discharged himself and ‘has competence’ to make that decision then no one can stop him. Indeed they could find themselves in trouble if they tried.

We live near a big hospital … it does happen. Hopefully the hospital contacted a Next of Kin and/or the patient’s GP to alert them, and made an urgent social care referral if appropriate.

I would have thought that waiting for a bus while dressed in one’s pyjamas was a bit of a hint. 🫤

What he was doing may well not be a good idea, but if that's what he wants to do he has the right to do it.

There's spiders living in the outside crevices of my window frames. There's no way of gently persuading them to go elsewhere. They're not even impressed by a jet of water. A good while ago, I decided to call a truce but they're awful messy bgggrs - bits of dead insects and spidershite all over the window ledges. The other day, there was an altercation between two of them over a captured wasp. Unfortunately,I had a phone call and by the time I'd finished, they'd resolved the problem and went back to their corners. I never found out who'd won. No sign of the wasp either. My hope is that they intercept biters on the way to get me.

  • Hi @B3

I've absolutely no connection to this company, but we've been using this product to reduce the spiders (and their mess!) in our window frames.

I wasn't expecting it to work, but it actually has made a real difference.

Thanks @Bee witched it washes off with a bit of bathroom spray. I use that because it's handy upstairs.  So long as they're on the other side of the glass, I'm not too bothered and it's something to look at while I'm hoping for sleep in the early hours.

His wheelchair use could be entirely legitimate.  Any wheelchair I have ever seen being used in a hospital isn't capable of being self propelled.  They all have small wheels and only steer properly when being moved backwards.
  • Maths? 32-16=16, 92-78=14 - maybe they switched partners when no one was looking ..... traded in for an older model?
Do beg pardon for my poor memory. She turned 77 in June, she was 76 on their anniversary.

I had a quick drive out today and I'm struggling with the new 20mph speed limit. I've got a rough idea of how fast 30mph is but I keep having to watch the speedo now. I didn't see one other person trying to stick to it though and people driving behind were catching up very quickly then tailgating.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
