That does beggar belief @pansyface.  Round here they're all very proud of their menhirs and relics of prehistoric settlements.

As for wildlife - we share a lot and work hard to make habitats and space but I don't want caterpillars in my brassicas and there's plenty of fruit and shelter.  No chemicals for the last 5 years and bird numbers and varities have increased each year since we moved in.   I assume insects too but not so clever at spotting those.

I make jam from ours, when we get them.

I tend to freeze the redcurrants, and defrost by the handful in winter, as a source of vitamin C.

We are 8 miles from Castle Donington and the download festival. Metallica have a new sound system. I thought it was the pub 100 yards down the road. They can be heard in a 15 mile radius.  All we hear is a boom, boom, boom, of the bass, and it is so bloody annoying.    I dread to think what it is doing to the hearing of all those actually in the field in front of the speakers.  Only another day of it to go.

I make spiced blackcurrant jelly, vinegar, vodka and gin - not all in the same jar!  I save some to freeze for blackcurrant crumbles and cobbler in winter.

My wife saw Metallica at Download. Her hearing is terrible :#

I'm a bit jealous - I used to go to Donington when it was Monsters of Rock (back in the 80's) but can't be doing with the 3-day camping stuff. My creaky old joints like a nice comfy bed these days :D

@JennyJ me too - I'd sleep anywhere in my youth - barns, train stations,  woods, old houses.. now I won't even stay in a B&B if it hasn't got a bathroom en suite. 😄

@pansyface I can't believe that one about moving the standing stones!! Everything now is about money, greed, profits, bugger the environment and history.. and they have the temerity to be dictating to the likes of us for having a diesel car, or putting a wash on at 60⁰. 🤬

Well the rain didn't come to much when it eventually arrived 🙄  A bit of damp is better than nothing though. So much for the forecasted disruptive downpours.
