Probably best to just accept that anything is Art if the person creating it deems it to be so ? Whether you personally consider it to be Art - which would depend on your interpretation of the word - is up to the individual. Not much different from a garden ( or a house or anything someone has created) - what one person sees or feels or understands, another may not. I never understood what Emin was trying to say about the unmade bed or whoever did the pile of bricks or the animal submerged in preservative but that was simply because none of those exhibits were of interest to me and I didn't feel it worth my while to try and work out what was behind it. Others may have seen those exhibits in a completely different light, grasped the meaning behind them and enjoyed seeing them. As a keen photographer some 40 years ago and doing my own developing and printing, I still have photos I am pleased with, are technically good, mean something and have been admired by others. Art ? Who can say ? Interesting discussion tho maybe not Curmudgeonly - that's what I like about this forum - makes you think a bit at times
