Well, thank you @steveTu. May I ask how?

I was tasked with feeding the dogs early one morning - they were in a new house and because of Covid, I hadn't been there that often to 'familiarise' myself. Their kitchen is one of those where the cupboard doors have no handles - so you have to work out which corner they open from. Anyway, I was going to make myself a coffee and there was a cupboard (or so I thought) up to the left of the hob, so I put my fingers behind a corner and flicked - and the whole ****ing panel came down. It wasn't a door - just a blanking panel. It landed corner first on the hob, showering the dogs (who were in the kitchen with me) with glass shards. Major panic to get the dogs safely out and clean up the mess - and to get a replacement bought, in and working before dear dafter got back.
My kids think I'm a senile old git anyway - so I may as well live up to their expectations...

In my defence, the panel was attached by two screws on one side - and both the screws only went in a couple of mil - really shoddy stuff.

Definitely not your fault. I will try to avoid cupboard flicking.

....they have invited me back subsequently and I've actually used their hob. I know they're the future (electric hobs) but, I still prefer my old gas thingy. I just couldn't find that 'right' setting for doing bacon - either not cooking or the smell of burning oil/fat.

PS they were lucky as well, as I got the exact model hob - and it had an offer of a set of induction pans with it. So they got those for free.

  • I'm sure @wild edges will know all about this one.
I've come down with another cold like virus, (runny nose sore throat and eyes). It barely seems like 5mins since the last one.  The last one went on for 3 weeks. 😡

I caught the end of a report on Radio 4 where they were summarising the state of a country. It was something along the lines of... this country will never improve while it's run by elderly men pushing extreme religious views, suppressing women's rights, using police brutality for control and rampant corruption etc. The sad part was I couldn't tell if they were talking about Afghanistan or the USA :#
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
